The Netflix series “Women at War” or “Les Combattantes”, created by Camille Trainer and Cécile Lorne, is a Franco-Belgian historical drama series set in 1914 during the war. German soldiers and men leave to fight her on the front lines, leaving women and children behind.

Where Was Women at War Series Filmed?
Women at War is filmed exclusively in France, particularly in the Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, and Île-de-France regions. According to reports, principal photography for the initial iteration of the French-Belgian show began in May 2021 and ended in July of that year.
In order to gain access to the relevant military equipment for the recording, the production team spent a lot of time studying the landscape of the selected locations and enlisted the help of collectors and museums.

Many key sequences for ‘Women at War’ take place in the Grand Est, an administrative region in northeastern France. The Vosges department serves as one of the show’s primary production locations, as the film crew uses various locations.

These include La Manufacture Royale at 10 La Manufacture in La Vôge-Les-Bains, Lac de la Maix, Senones, Vexaincourt, and Gérardmer. In addition, several locations of the municipality of Plombières-Les-Bains will appear in the program. The team reportedly changed the storefronts, covered the streets with sand, and built a kiosk in the plaza to match the timeline of the story.

Several parts of “Women at War” are filmed in Hauts-de-France, France’s third most populous and northernmost region. You’ll likely spot numerous series favorites located in the area, including the town of Montreuil-sur-Mer, Valloires Abbey on the D192 Lieu dit Valloires in Angeles, and La Somme. In addition, La Chartreuse de Neuville at 1 Allée de la La Chartreuse in Neuville-sous-Montreuil will be transformed into a French military hospital for the Netflix series.

For filming purposes, the production team of “Women at War” also travels to Île-de-France, France’s most populous region centered around the capital city of Paris. The Seine-et-Marne department is one of the show’s key filming locations. Specifically, the cast and crew reportedly camped in a building with a wide staircase in the village of Crèvecoeur-en-Brie.
