Peacock’s “A Friend of the Family” Based on true events, is a biographical crime Tv series created by Nick Antosca that dramatizes the true story of the Broberg family, which was previously covered in Skye Borgman’s 2017 documentary “Kidnapped in Plain Sight.”
Set in the 1970s, the story follows Robert Berchtold, a charming and obsessive close family friend of the Broberg’s. Over the years, Jan kidnaps the Brobergs’ daughter several times.
A family friend, Robert, uses clever and sophisticated tactics to exploit the Broberg family’s vulnerability and somehow turn their own daughter against them, permanently wreaking havoc on the family’s lives.
The crime drama features a stellar cast from some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Jake Lacy, Anna Paquin, Colin Hanks, Lio Tipton, and McKenna Grace. Additionally, the interesting use of locations is likely to make viewers wonder where “A Friend of the Family” is being filmed.
Where Was A Friend of the Family Series Filmed?
“A Friend of the Family” is being filmed in Georgia and California, specifically in Metro Atlanta and Los Angeles. Principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the crime show reportedly began in February 2022 and seemingly wrapped up in late August of that year.

In addition, they seem to be using the properties of one of the film studios in the area.
