CBS’s “The Real Love Boat” is a dating reality Tv series that brings together a group of singles on a cruise ship where they must mingle and form connections. However, their compatibility is tested by a series of challenges, surprises, and the arrival of new singles. Additionally, the ship’s crew plays matchmaker as they push potential couples together to create the perfect love story. The last pair to stand the test of time and reach the ship’s destination is adjudged the winner and will receive a cash prize and a luxury trip.
Hosted by Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell, the reality series is adapted from the hit romantic comedy series The Love Boat. With its unique format and setting, it adds a unique twist to already existing shows in this genre. Since the original show was based on a cruise, viewers also wondered if ‘The Real Love Boat’ was set on the same ship.
Where Was The Real Love Boat Series Filmed?
“The Real Love Boat” is filmed across the Mediterranean on a cruise ship called the Regal Princess. Principal photography for the first iteration of the reality series took place over 21 days in July and August 2022.

“The Real Love Boat” was recorded entirely aboard the Regal Princess, a luxury passenger cruise ship operated by Princess Cruises. The Royal class vessel was built in Monfalcone, Italy, and first set sail in May 2014.
Built with elegant interiors, it offers several entertainment areas such as a multi-level atrium, theatre, various dining rooms, restaurants, and swimming pools. In addition, it has a maximum capacity of 5,600 passengers and crew.

During filming, the ship covers a number of destinations across the Mediterranean region, including breathtaking locations in Italy such as Tuscany, Sorrento, Messina, and Genova. He also apparently sailed through Santorini, Greece and Spain, Cartagena, and many other regions. Hosts Jerry and Rebecca had a blast taping the debut season on the Regal Princess and shared that it was their first time on a cruise ship.

In addition, Jerry revealed that the cast and crew recorded scenes among the thousands of permanent guests on the ship to maintain authenticity. So they use each part of the cruise to show different scenes and segments along with their interactions with the guests. In a July 2022 interview with Travel Age West, John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises, elaborated on the filmmakers’ decision to film the series on the ship.
