The Gray Man is a 2022 American action thriller movie directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay co-written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Mark Greaney. The movie stars Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Jessica Henwick, Ana de Armas, Wagner Moura, Regé-Jean Page, Dhanush, Julia Butters, Billy Bob Thornton, and Alfre Woodard. Produced by the Russo brothers’ company, AGBO, the movie aims to launch a franchise based on Greaney’s Gray Man novels.
With international assassins chasing him, Sierra Six must stay on the run and use her experience and skills to survive all the attacks on him. Plus, it’s only natural that the hardcore action sequences on various sets will make you wonder where the entirety of ‘The Gray Man’ was filmed.
Where Was The Gray Man Movie Filmed?
The Gray Man was filmed in France, the USA, the Czech Republic, and Azerbaijan, especially in California, Georgia, Hauts-de-France, and around Prague, and Baku. The original plan was to start shooting the action film in January 2021, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the production team to push back the date.
After several months, finally, in March 2021, the shooting of the main role of Ryan Gosling began and ended at the end of July of the same year.
California
The production team camped out in Los Angeles County, the most populous county in California and the United States, to begin shooting some key scenes for the film.

They reportedly used studio facilities in Los Angeles to shoot several special effects action sequences, while the city of Long Beach also served as an important location for the production.
France
Some other parts of “The Gray Man” were filmed in and around Chantilly, a commune in the Oise department in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France.
In particular, the Château de Chantilly in 60500 Chantilly served as a pivotal production location for some scenes in the action film.
Georgia
The cast and crew of The Gray Man then stopped in Marietta, the county seat of Cobb County, Georgia, where they shot some street market scenes on location.

Located near the center of the county, Marietta is known to be the fourth largest of the major cities by population in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Azerbaijan
The production team eventually traveled to Baku, the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, to film several episodes of the lead role of Chris Evans. They appeared to have moved across the city to shoot some interior and exterior sequences on suitable backdrops.

Baku is home to several tourist spots such as One and Thousand Nights Beach, Shikhov Beach, and Oil Rocks.
Czech Republic
After shooting the scenes in France at the end of July, the Russo brothers and their team went to Prague, the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. In the film, Prague represented several European and other countries, including Thailand.
Mánesův most (Mánesův) on Mánesův most, Charles Bridge on Charles Bridge, Svatopluk Čecha Bridge over the Vltava, and Negrelli Viaduct in Karlín are some of the Prague bridges that appear in the film.
In addition, the cast and crew of the film The Gray Man filmed scenes at the National Gallery Prague – Veletržní palác, Dukelské Hrdinů 47, in Holešovice, Prague Castle at Hradčany, the National Monument at Vítkov U Památník 1900, and the Municipal House at Náměstí Republiky 5.
Furthermore, Futurama Business Park on Sokolovská 663/136c doubled for Bangkok in some pivotal scenes of the action film. Several parts of the film were also filmed in Smíchov, Žižkov, Dukelské hrdiny, and Jan Palach square, which is located opposite the Rudolfinum concert hall.

‘The Grey Man’ crew surprisingly didn’t use much CGI, opting instead to shoot some street action scenes using real stuntmen. However, to limit damage to the city’s property, they built an entire square with a fountain and used the space to do whatever damage they intended in the scenes.
To shoot several additional parts of the film, the production team also traveled a little outside of Prague. They used the locations of Milovice, a town in the district of Nymburk, and Průhonice, a village and a village in the district of Praha-západ, both in the Central Bohemia region. The city of Ústí nad Labem, the capital of the Ústí Region, also served as a prominent filming location for the film The Gray Man.
