Rap Sh!t is an American comedy TV series created by Issa Rae for HBO Max. Produced by Hoorae Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment, the show centers on two Miami rappers (portrayed by Aida Osman and KaMillion) who struggle to make it in the music industry.
Shawna and Mia, are doing their best to make it in the music industry. While Shawna is an aspiring rapper trying to work at a hotel, Mia is a single mother and rapper working multiple jobs to support herself and her four-year-old child. Two estranged high school friends join forces to form a rap group and attempt to realize their dreams of fame.

Where Was Rap Sh!t Series Filmed?
“Rap Sh!t” is filmed entirely in Florida, specifically in Miami, where the story takes place. Principal photography on the inaugural iteration of the HBO Max series began in August 2021 but was reportedly halted for at least three weeks due to some cast and crew members testing positive for COVID-19. Filming was finally completed in December of that year.
Florida is located in the southeastern region of the United States of America and is the only state that borders the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. In particular, they seem to have camped out in Freehold Miami to film some important scenes for the show’s debut season. It’s a restaurant at 2219 Northwest 2nd Avenue in Miami that includes a pizzeria, 3 bars, a coffee shop, and a spacious patio.
Also known as the Magic City, Miami is home to several popular museums, including the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, the Miami Children’s Museum, the Lowe Art Museum, and the HistoryMiami Museum, to name a few.
