Based on Juan Gómez-Jurad’s novel of the same name, The Red Queen (Spanish: Reina Roja) is a Spanish-language and Mexican-language thriller television series directed by Koldo Serra. Hovik Keuchkerian and Vicky Luengo star in the film. The novel was one of the best-selling novels of the time.
After the murder of a wealthy family scion and the kidnapping of another wealthy heiress, the most educated person in the world, Antonia Scott, emerges from her hermit’s retreat and teams up with Basque gay police agent Jon Gutiérrez.
The adapted screenplay was written by Salvador Perpiña and Amaya Muruzábal and was based on the novel by Juan Gómez-Jurado. The producers of the series are In Dopamine and Focus. Among the filming locations were Madrid and Toledo. The series consists of seven episodes.
With a cast of talented actors including Vicky Luengo, Celia Freijeiro, Hovik Keuchkerian, Nacho Fresneda, and José Ángel Egido in outstanding performances. The main location of the Red Queen series is Spain. Principal photography began in August 2022 and ended in January 2023. The initial season of the series was filmed for up to 6 months.
The main filming location was Madrid, the capital of Spain. The production team visited many sites to create the backdrop for the crime thriller series and increase audience interest. In particular, the shooting of several sequences takes place around the Chamartín, Noviciado, and Goya railway stations, named after the Spanish graphic artist Francisco Goya.

Several sequences were filmed at Chamberi station, also known as the ghost station as it was closed by the government in 1966. The station is now an entrance museum, but trains still pass through.
Another primary site was the medieval city of Toledo, located in central Spain, there is also a mention of the “Red Queen”. A true expression of Spanish culture, the historic city is located in the autonomous region of Castile-La Mancha and is more than 66 km from Madrid.

So far, the only casting announcement for the Red Queen TV series is Elizabeth Banks, who is set to play an unknown character. The most likely candidate for Banks to play is Elara Merandus, the sadistic Queen of Norta and the main villain of the series.

The four main characters will likely be cast first in the show, given their importance to the story. There’s the protagonist, 17-year-old Mare Barrow, her two love interests, Tiberias “Cal” Calore VII and Maven Calore, and Mare’s rival-turned-friend, Diana Farley.
