“Fall” Written and directed by Scott Mann, is a survival thriller that follows two best friends, Becky and Hunter, who want to face their fears and conquer them. Unfortunately, the former is going through a traumatic incident and it is extremely difficult for him to overcome it. After a few weeks of mourning, Hunter comes back into her life and convinces her to face her fears, just like he used to.
So 2 experienced climbers set out to climb to the top of an abandoned 2,000-foot-tall tower. However, this anxious climb becomes complicated when they get stuck at the top. Now Becky and Hunter must muster all their courage and use their years of climbing experience to get down safely and back home. Starring Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, the film features an abandoned tower set against a desolate desert backdrop, which will probably make you wonder where Fall was filmed.
Where Was Fall Movie Filmed?
‘Fall’ was filmed in California, mainly in the Mojave Desert and Los Angeles County. Principal photography for the thriller apparently took place between August and September 2020.

Most of “Fall” took place in the Californian section of the Mojave Desert in the southwestern United States. Specifically, the film crew decided to shoot the film primarily in the desert Shadow Mountains. In an interview with the Radio Times in September 2022, Scott Mann was not shy about revealing a few details about the production process.
To decide on a specific location to serve as the film’s focal point, they did a lot of research before coming across the abandoned B67 tower in California, which the best friends climb in the Fall film.
Although the team ostensibly scored some establishing shots using the actual turret, most of the Fall shooting took place elsewhere. At the same time, Mann was adamant that he did not want to use a green screen and preferred to do it on location. So, after much consideration, they decided to build the upper part of the tower on top of the mountain. Now their next step was to find the right place.
Elaborating on the process for doing this, Mann said, “We searched all over California, and it was during Covid -19, so we just drove and drove and drove to these random remote places to try to get access.
A lot of them had some kind of radio masts and things on top of these mountains, and you just find the right kind of mountain top with the right cliff and the right sunlight placement.” Soon, thanks to modern technology and Google Maps, they were on their way to a spot that seemed perfect on paper and stunning in reality.

Once the production team decided on a location, they reportedly built 100-foot sections on top of the cliff they found. Mann added, “…And so basically we were over 2,000 feet, so all kinds of camera work and things to capture the Fall film, [stars] Virginia (Gardner) and Grace (Caroline Curry) were really immersed in what was. happy to be up there – because they really were up there!” Filming at such a height must have been challenging, but it also presented several challenges they hadn’t considered.
“…I would say it’s a struggle to make a film at the best of times. But this, it was like we were going to set up every day, it was like a Bear Grylls adventure. And then we had all these things happen with lightning, hurricanes — our set fell once,” Mann said.
However, Manna and his team were caught off guard by another incident. He explained: “It was raining hot and it was dissolving the bandage. And then it caused the locusts or the ants, whatever they were, that were in the mountain to sort of climb up and hide somewhere in the pipes of our set.’

Mann added: “So when Virginia and Grace got there the next day, the thing wobbled and all of a sudden there was this cloud of flying ants – and we just couldn’t film because there was a huge cloud of flying ants for hours.
And then they’d settle back in the tube and you’d try to climb up and they’d come loose again. And it was this cycle. And you’re in the middle of nowhere, so how do you deal with a problem like that, you know? I ended up having to strap the leaf blower to the back and climb into the bag to get rid of about 8 million of these things!”

Additional portions for ‘Fall’ were ostensibly shot in Los Angeles County, the most populous county in California and the United States. During the production schedule, the cast and crew were spotted filming several key scenes in and around the charter city of Lancaster, located in the northern region of the county near the Mojave Desert.
