After decades of a successful acting career, Nicolas Cage is finally starring in his first western drama “The Old Way”. Directed by Brett Donovan, the film focuses on Colton Briggs, an ex-gunslinger who left his infamous and dangerous life behind after getting married. focus on becoming a good family man. After a few years of gunfights, he realizes that he might be done with his past, but his past is far from done with him.
When the outlaw son of the man Colton killed years ago seeks revenge, it ends with the death of his wife. Now he teaches his 12-year-old daughter Brooke the art of shooting to get revenge. Together they embark on a mission to track down the killer.

Where Was The Old Way Movie Filmed?
The Old Way was filmed completely in Montana, particularly in Park County. Principal photography on the action film began in August 2021 and wrapped up in about a month in September.
According to reports, assistant and gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were on the receiving end of complaints from film crew members about her handling of firearms when she fired without warning during production. It even caused Nicolas Cage to walk off the set.

Most of “The Old Way” was filmed in Park County in southern Montana. The production team primarily camped at Yellowstone Film Ranch in the heart of Livingston on a bluff overlooking Paradise Valley in southwest Montana and used its facilities to record most of the dramatic film’s key sequences.

The film studio is home to a fully functional western town facility, massive forested grounds, and a production office, including an extensive set construction studio. All of these advantages make the Yellowstone Film Ranch a suitable filming location for Western movies such as “The Old Way.”
Additionally, during filming, cast and crew members were spotted taping various key scenes in the unincorporated communities of Chico, Emigrant, and apparently Gardiner. So the locations of all these areas also appear in Brett Donohoe’s direction.

In Park County, there are parts of several national protected areas, including Custer National Forest, Lewis and Clark National Forest, Gallatin National Forest, and Yellowstone National Park. In addition, the county consists of over 150 lakes and reservoirs such as Beauty Lake, Jewel Lake, Fox Lake, and Marsh Lake to name a few.
