‘The Menu’ Directed by Mark Mylod, is a comedy-horror film that revolves around Tyler and Margot, a couple who travel to a coastal island to an exclusive Hawthorne restaurant. Soon, Tyler and Margot realize that something sinister is brewing inside the restaurant. Now they must escape the island before Slowik carries out his devious plans.

Where Was The Menu Movie Filmed?
“The Menu” movie was filmed at various locations in Georgia, particularly in Chatham County. The main photography on the film began in early September 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of October of that year.
Although the makers originally planned to film in Scotland, it was later changed to the Peach State due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Georgia
“The Menu” was primarily introduced on Tybee Island, a small coastal town in Chatham County that is close to Savannah, Georgia’s oldest city. The cast and crew filmed key scenes at a private home in Horsepen Point and on the beach facing the sea at Chatham Avenue and 19th Street.

Some scenes of The Menu were also recorded in Savannah, the county seat of Chatham County. In addition, although the island is natural, the team created an intricately detailed set to film the sequences set in the fictional Hawthorne restaurant.
In an interview with Condé Nast Traveler, production designer Ethan Tobman shared, “We built the facade of the restaurant, as well as enough hallways to film the actors walking through the doors and entering the ‘gullet’ of the restaurant – but then they would go to a blue screen.”
The interiors were shot on stage. The door was haunted. I was inspired by cattle doors; I love the idea that people feel like protein when they walk into this place – like lambs being led to the slaughter. I wanted it to be the last clue for the viewer that everything is not okay.”

Director Mark Mylod wanted to create a brutalist and Nordic aesthetic for the plot, which Tobman called organic modern. So Tybee Island was the perfect location for its long journeys and picturesque setting that really resonated with the film’s theme and drew parallels between nature and food.
