Apple TV+’s “Spirited” Based on Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella “A Christmas Carol,” is a Christmas fantasy comedy written and directed by Sean Anders. It revolves around the Ghost of Christmas Present and a stingy man named Clint Briggs.
Every year on Christmas Eve, the former decides to reform one dark soul with his powers; this year it’s the latter’s turn. Clint is full of himself and selfishness. And so to reform his personality, the Present takes him on an adventurous journey through time – past, present, and future.
The present hopes that at the end of the adventure, he will discover the root of Clint’s loneliness and suffering and why he is as selfish as he is. While the magical and music-filled narrative keeps the audience engaged, the various past, present, and future settings and changing backdrops make you curious to know all about the actual shooting locations of “Spirited.”
Where Was Spirited Movie Filmed?
“Spirited” movie was shot completely in Massachusetts, particularly in Greater Boston. According to reports, filming for the Ryan Reynolds-starrer began in July 2021 and ended in October of that year.
Its vast and varied terrain makes Massachusetts a suitable production location for a variety of projects, including “Spirited.”

All key sequences for “Spirited” were created in Greater Boston, the metropolitan area consisting of the borough of Boston and its surrounding areas. The production team reportedly set up camp for about three weeks at The Saunders Castle in the Park Plaza at 130 Columbus Avenue in Boston. This served as the place where all the ghosts hang out and plan their spooks in the film.

While the homeless shelter scene was filmed in the cafeteria of Marian High School at 273 Union Avenue in Framingham (temporarily closed), the scenes in Kimberley’s house were filmed in an actual house in the suburbs of Melrose.
In addition, the film crew took over Marshall Street and turned it into old-world London by erecting a platform on the roofs of some of the buildings, which used about 3,000 pounds of metal to hold the tarpaulin covering the street.

On the other hand, they turned Devonshire Street into New York City’s financial district for a scene involving Present, Clint, and a group of dancers performing an elaborate musical number on the street. Reportedly, the crew spent six nights on-site, making snow and dancing.

Some key scenes where Clint returns to his childhood were filmed in the Everett neighborhood. During filming, the cast and crew were spotted at various other locations throughout Greater Boston, including the Fairmont Copley Plaza lobby at 138 St. James Avenue, The Bell In Hand Tavern at 45 Union Street, Worcester Police Department at 9-11 Lincoln Square in Worcester, Haymarket Square in Boston, Mechanics Hall at 321 Main Street in Worcester, South Shore Plaza at 250 Granite Street in Braintree, Devens, Lynnfield, and Weymouth.
