The Netflix series “The Girls at the Back” or “Las de la última fila”, created by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, is a Spanish comedy-drama series that revolves around five childhood friends – Alma, Olga, Lea, Carol, and Sara. Now in their thirties, the friends never fail their annual holiday tradition together, and this year is no exception. But this time things are significantly different as one of them is diagnosed with life-threatening cancer.

The Girls at the Back is filmed exclusively in Spain, mainly in the provinces of Cádiz and Madrid. Principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the Netflix series reportedly began in September 2021 and wrapped in December of that year.

Most of “The Girls at the Back” takes place in the province of Cádiz, a province in the southwestern part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. The film crew usually sets up camp along the coast of the province, from Tarifa to Conil, where most of the action takes place.
Several street or exterior scenes are shot in Conil de la Frontera, one of the white towns of Andalusia. You can catch a glimpse of Tómbolo de Trafalgar at11159 Trafalgar in the background of several sequences of the five friends enjoying their holiday.

Additionally, during the filming of the debut season, cast and crew members were spotted filming key scenes in Vejer de la Frontera, a hilltop town and village in the province of Cádiz. Some of the places they used on location in the city are Calle Nuestra Señora de la Oliva near Casa Varo, Plaza de España, and 4 Estaciones Restaurant in Calle Juan Relinque, 3.
It seems the production team is also spending a significant amount of time in the villages of Zahara de Los Atunes and Los Caños de Meca, filming important scenes for the series.
