Netflix’s “Thai Cave Rescue” Based on the events of the 2018 Tham Luang Cave Rescue, is a Thai/American adventure series created by Michael Russell Gunn and Dana Ledoux Miller. Set in the summer of 2018, the story revolves around a Thai youth soccer team called the Wild Boars and their assistant coach, who are all stuck in a flooded cave due to heavy rains for two weeks. The show dramatically depicts a global rescue effort that leaves 12 boys and a coach trapped.
What makes the show even more breathtaking are the brilliant performances of some of the actors, including Pratya Patong, Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote, Thanet Warakulnukroh, Songpon Kantawong, and Chakkapat Srisat. Additionally, the backdrop of the flooded caves as the soccer team struggles to survive raises the question of whether “Thai Cave Rescue” was shot on location or somewhere else entirely.

“Thai Cave Rescue” is filmed entirely in Thailand, specifically in Chiang Rai province and Bangkok. Principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the series seemingly began in early September 2021 and wrapped up in December of that year.
In order to give the audience an authentic and immersive viewing experience, the film crew is mainly camped in the exact locations where the story takes place. Now without further ado, let’s take a look at all the specific sites that appear in the Thai Cave Rescue Netflix series!
A significant part of “Saving Thailand’s Caves” is taking place in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand’s northernmost province. Most of the cave sequences are filmed on location inside the actual Tham Luang cave, while the interviews with the real victims of the imprisonment in season 1 were filmed in their homes. What makes the underwater diving scenes even more authentic is the involvement of Dr. Richard Harris, a cave diver himself involved in the rescue, as the body double of actor Rodger Corser, who portrays him on the show.
