Netflix’s Gymnastics Academy: A Second Chance, a spin-off of “A Second Chance” and “A Second Chance: Rivals!”, is a family sports series created by Clay Glenn and Vanessa Shapiro. It follows a 14-year-old African-American gymnast named Kyra Berry who dreams of competing in the Olympics and showcasing her skills to the world.
Unfortunately, her academy withdraws her name after she suffers a knee injury. However, former world champion gymnast turned coach Maddy Cornell recognizes Kyra’s potential and invites her to join the Coreega Gymnastics Academy for a trial.
Landing in a new country, Kyra experiences new friendships, personal and professional growth, important life lessons, and her first-ever boy crush, all of which she cherishes with her teenage teammates. Her inspiring journey and the adventures and challenges she faces make for an interesting watch.

‘Gymnastics Academy: Second Chance!’ is being filmed entirely in Australia, specifically in South Australia. Principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the sports drama series reportedly began in October 2021 and seemingly wrapped up in late December of that year.
Although most of the story takes place in Sydney, the series is filmed in various regions of South Australia.

Highlights of Gymnastics Academy: Second Chance! take place in and around Adelaide, the capital and largest city of South Australia. For Season 1, the film crew built a purpose-built gym in Adelaide’s inner-southern suburb of Wayville, which stands for Coreega Gymnastics Academy.

They even used one of the city’s beaches to shoot beach scenes for the debut iteration. Additionally, the Adelaide Bowling Club on Dequetteville Terrace in Kent Town, Adelaide appears to serve as a pivotal production site.
