‘The Survivor’ is a moving biography movie that follows Harry Haft, a Jewish boxer who is forced to fight other prisoners in order to survive the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II. Unable to overcome the trauma after that, he decides to move to New York and compete with boxing legends to free himself. By doing so, Harry hopes to find his first love again.
‘The Survivor’ surprises the audience with its poignant narrative – based on the powerful story of Harry Haft – and influential characters who are portrayed as different characters. However, what takes the cake is the virtual reality background of Poland and New York, where the movie is set.
Where Was The Survivor Movie Filmed?
‘The Survivor’ was heavily recorded in various parts of Hungary, especially in Budapest, Veszprém County, Pest County, and Nógrád County. Large parts were also recorded in New York and Georgia, especially in New York City, Savannah, and Tybee Island.
The main photography began in February 2019 and appeared to be wrapped up on June 8, 2019. At the time of production, the film was titled ‘Harry Haft.’
Hungary
‘The Survivor’ was filmed primarily in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Actors and crew filmed scenes on Óbuda Island, the largest Danubian island in Budapest. Separated from the Danube River, the world’s most populous city dates back to about AD 41-54. It was a witness to major historical events such as the Hungarian Revolutions of 1848 and 1956, and the Battle of Budapest.

‘The Survivor’ was also shot in Pest County, around the city of Budapest. The shooting took place mostly in Ócsa, a picturesque town with a historic Árpád Age Romanesque church built in the 13th Century by the Premonstratensians and famous for its architecture and murals.

The production of ‘The Survivor’ then moved across the lake to New York City’s bustling metropolitan area, where key components were installed in the Coney Island and Brighton Beach areas of Brooklyn.
