“Joe Pickett” was filmed entirely in and around Canada, especially in the snow-capped province of Alberta. Filming for the first season began on May 3, 2021, and will end in September 2021. Although the series was set in a small rural town called Saddlestring in Wyoming, the creators planned to shoot in Canada for a number of logistical reasons.
Canada is ideal for film productions due to its cool and temperate climate, rich natural beauty, and preference for rural habitats and small towns. Large tax deduction programs and low exchange rates move products to Canada.
‘Joe Pickett’ was filmed in Alberta, with staff using Calgary as a construction site. At the heart of the nation’s oil industry, Calgary is rapidly gaining prominence on the world filmmaking map. While the crew did not reveal any specifics, they did share some exciting behind-the-scenes posts that show the team had a lot of fun during construction. Some scenes were also filmed at the former Hub Fitness on the High Rivers McLeod Trail. Located 54 km south of downtown Calgary, the community is part of the Calgary Metropolitan Area.
Additional filming took place in Cochrane, an important base in the province, 18 kilometers west of Calgary city limits. The production team resumed filming in the picturesque township, which proved to be a key location for the series.
Some of the supporting scenes were filmed at the Cochran Ranchhouse, a convention center at 101 Ranchhouse Road.
