“Immaculate.” When an American nun enters a distant monastery in the rural Italian countryside, she sets out on a new adventure. Her pleasant welcome, however, soon turns into a nightmare as she learns that her new house is hiding horrifying secrets.
A pious young woman named Sister Cecilia accepts her father’s invitation to join a convent in the countryside and sets out for Italy. Cecilia observes unsettling cult-like rituals occurring as she learns more about the institution’s methods, such as senior nuns’ feet with burn marks like crosses. When Cecilia—a virgin—learns she is expecting, things become even crazier.
Heralded as a miracle, the young nun attracts both awe and malevolent intents. The beautiful Italian countryside serves as the backdrop for this religious horror movie, which is driven by Sydney Sweeney’s riveting performance.
Cecelia’s exploration of the sacrilegious facts concealed within the nunnery causes the scene to change from a charming monastery to a terrifying institution. Fans of the genre can try to find out exactly where “Immaculate” was filmed, considering the movie’s foreign setting and cast of characters.
