Land of Bad is a 2024 American action thriller film directed by William Eubank, who co-wrote the script with David Frigerio. The Land of Bad film stars famous Hollywood actors such as Liam Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia.
The story revolves around a US Army Delta Force unit assigned to save a CIA spy from the Abu Sayyaf is assisted by US Air Force drone pilot Captain Eddie “Reaper” Grimm and Staff Sergeant Nia Branson in the southern Philippines. Sergeant JJ “Playboy” Kinney, the team’s JTAC, looks to be the only one still alive during a battle during the operation.
Sent to an extraction location, Kinney and his companion, Master Sergeant John “Sugar” Sweet, are apprehended by the Abu Sayyaf after a sequence of incidents. Kinney and Sweet find themselves under the Abu Sayyaf’s clutches after Grimm’s drone support runs out.
When Kinney makes contact with Grimm, he arranges for bombs to be dropped on the enemy base; however, connection is cut off when the base personnel becomes preoccupied.
The action packed military thriller is an encouraging Land of Bad movie with lots of bomb explosions , gunsquads and fire shooting across the whole series. Filming a thriller packed movie at this level is surely a difficult task.
Filming was never an easy task for the production team as they had to face many challenges related to the thrilling cover scenes to the highlighting drone shots. With thorough research , the forests of South East Queensland in Australia, particularly, close to the city of Gold Coast were chosen.
Where Was Land of Bad Movie Filmed?
Principal photography of Land of Bad began on September 15, 2022, and was wrapped up by November 9, 2022. The Land of Bad filming almost took a span of 42-days. The concrete forests did a commendable job for putting a s scenic backdrop but also came with the heavy challenges of heavy downpour, floods, unstable weather etc.
GOLD COAST (AUSTRALIA)
The production team successfully utilized the metropolitan city of Gold Coast and shot scenes of the Air Force base and Captain Grimm’s station in the city. The Tallebudgera Valley region, laboriously capturing the natural majesty of Springbrook National Park was the accurate location where the team flourished with the scenes due to the vast area provided to them.

The South East Queensland rainforests were used to simulate the rainforests of the Philippines, while the Gold Coast was used to film a U.S. military installation located hundreds of miles distant from the scene. In this particular area you will also find theme parks like Dreamworld, Sea World, and Wet’n’Wild.
It is also home to rare birds and rainforests. One must be in surprise to know that the actual forests were originally located in Australia and not in the Philippines.
The national park’s subtropical rainforests effectively replicated the climate of Southeast Asia. The Natural Bridge is a magnificent rock creation that has been sculpted over millions of years by the force of a waterfall, and it is one of the highlights of Springbrook National Park.

The rugged peaks of Sprinbook and coastal beaches of the Gold Coast city provided the Land of Bad movie with enough shots. The drone also captured some cinematic shots of the Lamington National park. The versatil landscapes and generous location incentives the filmmakers were easily able to get a picturesque location.
