Netflix’s The Big 4, written and directed by Timo Tjahjanto, is an Indonesian action comedy that follows a competent detective who begins to investigate the death of her father. After collecting some evidence, they connect the dots and discover that she had a completely different life that he hid from everyone – he was the leader of a group of killers. When her investigation leads her to a remote island, she is tracked down by her father’s enemies.
Now the detective must enlist the help of four crooked retired assassins he trained and worked with and bring them back into action. The action-packed narrative is made all the more entertaining by the hilarious performances of the talented ensemble comprising Abimana Aryasatya, Putri Marino, Arie Kriting, and Lutesha. “The Big Four” was filmed exclusively in Indonesia, mainly in Bali and Jakarta. According to reports, principal photography for the action-adventure movie began in November 2021 and will end in February 2022.
