The girl seemingly dies of an opioid overdose, but a deeper investigation into the mystery reveals more truth to Ben. “Vengeance” was filmed in New Mexico, mainly in Albuquerque and Artesia. Principal photography began in March 2020 but was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic; seemingly continued in November 2020 and seemingly wrapped around February 2021.
Lyn Moncrief handled most of the cinematography and you may recognize him from his work on ‘Sway’ and ‘The Wind.’ At the same time, Courtney and Hillary Andujar jointly handled most of the production design.

Some scenes were shot in and around the city, and the production crew consisted of many local professionals. The team employed more than 100 crew members in New Mexico, about 20 main actors from the state, and about 50 people as background talent. B.J. Novak fully immersed himself in the local cuisine and culture, and the taco restaurant El Cotorro became his favorite.

Several scenes were recorded in the town of Artesia, a growing community in Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico. The production crew visited the Pecos River and shot scenes in the Pecos River Valley area. The town began as a stopover named Miller in 1894 and gradually saw better times thanks to the booming oil and gas industry.

While the cast and crew didn’t head to Texas, the director brought in several people from the state to maintain a distinct accent. However, the shoot was not without hiccups – a lightning blizzard hindered the process, but the director got back on his feet and completed the plan.
