“Thor: Love and Thunder” is a superhero film directed by Taika Waititi, making it the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The direct sequel to ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ follows Thor who is retired and in search of inner peace. However, his peace is interrupted when a galactic killer named Gorr the God Butcher enters the scene and seeks to eliminate all the gods.
Thor is forced to grab his Stormbreaker and get back into action. To deal with Gorr, he must team up with Valkyrie, Korg, and his former friend Jane Foster, who is now the Mighty Thor and wields Thor’s former hammer, Mjolnir.
They must all band together and embark on a space adventure to get to the bottom of Gorr’s evil plans and put an end to his evil plans before it’s too late. The already fascinating narrative is made even more interesting by some action sequences set against interesting backdrops that will make you wonder what the actual filming locations are like.
Where Was Thor: Love and Thunder Movie Filmed?
“Thor: Love and Thunder” was filmed in Australia and Canada, specifically in Sydney and Vancouver. The original plan was to start shooting the film in August 2020, but it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After several months, principal photography began on January 26, 2021, starring Chris Hemsworth under the working title “The Big Salad” and was completed in early June of the same year. Like its prequel, most of the production took place in Australia, which probably made the process smoother for everyone involved in both films.
Sydney
Much of “Thor: Love and Thunder” was filmed in Sydney, the capital of the Australian state of New South Wales. For the most part, the production team set up camp at Fox Studios Australia, which is Building 16 at 38 Driver Avenue in Moore Park, Sydney. The largest integrated facility in the Southern Hemisphere houses 9 sound stages covering a total of 160,000 square feet. In addition, with multiple production offices, outdoor filming locations, and water facilities, the studio is suitable for hosting almost any filming project.

In early February, Chris Hemsworth and the rest of the team were spotted in their costumes at Centennial Park. It is a suburb located in the Eastern Suburbs metropolitan area of Sydney. In addition, the production team used the premises of a regular golf club in Little Bay in the south-eastern suburbs of Sydney. They built a brand new stage for several theater scenes on the cliff edge of the golf course. In addition, Potts Hill doubled as New Asgard for several key scenes in the Marvel film.

In addition to “Thor: Love and Thunder,” Sydney has served as a prominent production location for several other major productions over the years. Some of the notable movies and TV shows that are filmed in the capital are “Independence Day” “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, and “Pieces of Her”.
Vancouver
Other parts of the superhero film were also recorded in Vancouver, the capital of the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia. Due to the city’s vast and versatile landscape, including modern architecture and the North Shore Mountains, Vancouver is a suitable filming location for a variety of productions.

This is one of the reasons why many filmmakers often visit the city. Movies and TV shows like “Juno,” “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” “Peacemaker” “Deadpool,” and “Motherland: Fort Salem” have all been filmed against the backdrop of Vancouver.
