“Parallel Mothers” was filmed entirely in Spain, especially in and around Madrid. Major photography began in March 2021 and lasted until the end of May 2021.

The Plaza de Los Commandos serves as an important location for the film. Janice’s (Penelope Cruz) apartment is in the portal next to Cafe Moderno in the plaza.
