Some scenes were filmed at Chad Richeson Stadium, formerly known as Wantland Stadium. Located at 100 University Drive in Edmund, it is the football facility of the University of Central Oklahoma. The Irwin brothers loved filming in Oklahoma City, where their progressive movie I Can Only Imagine was filmed.

The cast and crew of “American Underdog” spent little time in Frisco. Sources revealed that staff had taped some of the stadium scenes at The Starsford Center. The 12,000-seat indoor stadium is located at 9 Cowboys Way. This is a basic learning facility for Dallas cowboys.
Georgia
According to reports, some scenes were filmed in the Georgian capital Atlanta. Apparently, the movie was originally intended to be shot in Georgia, before the Irwin brothers decided that Oklahoma would be a good fit.
