“Plane” Based on Charles Cumming’s novel “Plane,” is an action thriller directed by Jean-François Richet that follows the crew and passengers of a flight piloted by commercial pilot Brodie Torrance. After the plane is damaged by a storm, he manages to make a risky but successful landing on a dangerous island with no casualties. After landing, Brodie realizes that the island is ruled by a not-so-friendly anti-government militia.
When armed rebels take most of the passengers hostage for large ransoms from their respective families, Brodie has no choice but to remove the handcuffs and count on the doomed Louis Gaspar. He is an accused murderer whom the FBI has ordered him to transport safely.
Now the two team up to save the passengers and leave this hostile island together. The remote location of the island not only captivates the audience but also makes them wonder where the action movie was filmed.
Where Was Plane Movie Filmed?
“plane” was filmed in Puerto Rico and ostensibly in California, particularly the San Juan Metropolitan Area and Los Angeles. According to reports, filming for the Gerard Butler starrer began in early August 2021 and wrapped up in about eight weeks in early October.
Although the story takes place on the Philippine island of Jojo, the makers decided to shoot most of the film on the Caribbean island, given its similar features.
Puerto Rico
Almost all of the key sequences for “Plane” were created in the San Juan metropolitan area, in the northeastern part of Puerto Rico, centered around the city of the same name. Specifically, the Puerto Rico Convention Center at 100 Convention Boulevard in San Juan doubled as an airport terminal where many of the airplane-related scenes were filmed. Since the crew was given permission to shoot on location for about a week, they had to be extra careful when recording all the planned scenes.

In addition, most of the outdoor scenes depicting Jojo Island were shot on location around Castillo San Cristobal, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, both at 501 C. Norzagaray in San Juan, Barrio Obrero, and the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Ceiba. In addition, the production team turned the Pedrín Zorrilla Stadium or Coliseíto Pedrín Zorrilla at CW7H+X64, Calle Nemesio R. Canales in San Juan into a soundstage for various important interior scenes.

Not only that, key parts of the film were recorded in the municipality of Rio Grande in the San Juan metropolitan area. During filming, especially for the exterior scenes, the team had technical problems with transporting the necessary logistics. However, after much persistence, they managed to get the logistics by air and drop them at the shooting site.
California
Several scenes for “Plane” may have been shot in Los Angeles, California’s largest city. The film crew reportedly used the facilities of one of the film studios in or around LA and shot some key interior sequences for the film.
