“Vesper” is a sci-fi adventure drama film set in a post-apocalyptic yet futuristic world, written and directed by Kristina Buožytė and Bruno Samper. The story revolves around a brave and skilled 13-year-old girl named Vesper who, along with her paralyzed father, struggles to survive with limited resources.
But when Vesper comes across many different kinds of seeds, she must use her wits and exceptional biohacking skills with the help of her personal drone and a mysterious lady named Camellia to fight for a chance at a prosperous future. The interesting rendering of the future Earth and the realistic visuals against the bleak background of the post-apocalyptic landscape make the audience scratch their heads over the actual filming locations.
Where Was Vesper Movie Filmed?
“Vesper” movie was shot completely in Lithuania, particularly in the Vilnius district and other surrounding locations. According to reports, filming for the lead role of Raffiella Chapman began in March 2021 and ended in May of the same year. The production team had a hard time finding the location because the locations were filled with about two meters of snow, so they had to imagine what they would look like without snow.
The situation was complicated by the fact that the snow did not stop until a few weeks before filming began. This forced the film crew to decide on locations on location during filming. Interestingly, visual effects were used exclusively to enhance shots with a plant or ship in the background, while they did not use green screens for any of the shots. As for Vesper’s personal drone, sometimes it was a real drone and other times it was made with CGI, depending on the scene.
Lithuania
Most of the key sequences for “Vesper” were shot in Vilnius County, Lithuania’s largest county, located in the eastern region of the country. While the exterior scenes were filmed outdoors, the interior scenes involving Vesper’s house were reportedly recorded in one of the film studios in the county. As for Vesper’s secret underground lab scenes, they were recorded in and around the abandoned Lentvaris Manor, a former palace located in the Lentvaris transport hub.

The sci-fi film’s production team also set up camp in various other locations throughout the county, including Neris Regional Park at 108 13, 14222 Dūkštos, Grioviai Geomorphological Reserve, Peteša Estate (temporarily closed) and seemingly around the Moluvėnai Stream near the Stirniai Mound.

Members of the “Vesper” cast and crew also traveled to other locations in Lithuania for filming purposes. For example, the Merkinė observation tower located right outside the Vilnius district served as one of the key locations for the film’s production. In addition, several scenes were also shot around the Ratnycia Swamp and the Rudninkai Military Training Ground, located 22 miles southwest of the city of Vilnius.
