Netflix’s The Takeover or La toma del poder, Directed by Annemarie van de Mond, is a Dutch action thriller that revolves around a young ethical hacker named Mel Bandison. She is accused of a murder she did not commit after she uncovers a privacy scandal. With the help of several friends and acquaintances, Mel must stay on the run without getting caught and try to track down the people responsible for impersonating and blackmailing her.
The crime film features several action-packed chases complemented by impressive performances from a talented cast of Holly Mae Brood, Frank Lammers, Géza Weisz, Walid Benmbarek, and Susan Radder. While the suspenseful story holds the audience from beginning to end, the change in the background as Mel escapes from the police raises the question of where The Takeover was filmed.
