Netflix’s “Wild Is the Wind” directed by Fabian Medea, is a crime thriller that revolves around the gruesome murder of a young girl whose body is found in the bushes. Set in a small and racially segregated town, two corrupt police officers are tasked with getting to the bottom of the truth and finding the culprit behind a girl’s murder by hook or by crook. As the investigation into the girl’s murder begins, racial tensions and corruption surface, with the girl’s former lover in the eyes of the police as the prime suspect.
The mystery surrounding the girl’s killer adds an element of suspense to the narrative while also touching on some important themes, including racial discrimination and corruption, which are still so prevalent in society. Additionally, the background of arid areas seen throughout the film will probably raise some questions about the actual filming locations.

As they were staying at the Drostdy Hotel Graaff Reinet at 30 Church Street, the cast and crew likely used the nearby area to film several scenes. The wasteland valley in the city also seemingly served as a vital filming location.
According to reports, the Sarah Baartman District Office in the western part of the Eastern Cape also served as one of the important locations for the film.
In addition, the film crew traveled to Nieu-Bethesda, a village at the foot of the Sneeuberg in the Eastern Cape, to shoot several sequences. During filming, the cast and crew were spotted in and around The Owl House on Martins Street, possibly filming some key sequences for the film.

Other parts of “Wild Is the Wind” were also reportedly recorded in the Great Karoo, one part of the natural semi-desert area of the Karoo. The area is in a similar position compared to other areas with topography on Earth, that is, north and south of the equator. Its arid landscape makes it suitable for filming movies such as “Wild Is the Wind”.
