“The Holy Family” is being filmed in Spain and Africa, specifically in Madrid and Melilla. According to reports, principal photography for the initial iteration of the thriller show began in early October 2021 and wrapped up in December of the same year.

Spain
Most of the key sequences for “The Holy Family” take place in and around Madrid, Spain’s capital and most populous city. As most of the story takes place in Madrid’s Fuente del Berro district, the film crew may set up camp on location in the same administrative district to film some, if not all, of the key scenes.
In addition, they are traveling around Madrid and several other cities in Spain to record various sequences against suitable backgrounds for the Netflix series.
Located on the Manzanares River in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula, Madrid features modern architecture as well as some historic neighborhoods and streets, making it a dynamic manufacturing location. Over the years, it has hosted the production of many films and TV shows such as Pain and Glory, The Cook of Castamar, Talk to Her, and Alba.
Africa
For filming purposes, the “Holy Family” production team also travels to Melilla, an autonomous Spanish city located in North Africa.
