The Netflix series “Black Butterflies” or “Les Papillons Noirs”, created by Bruno Merle and Olivier Abbou, is a French crime thriller that follows a writer who lacks inspiration and motivation to work on his second book. Soon, opportunity knocks on his door in the form of a humble and dying man, Albert Desiderio, who wants to hire a novelist to write his memoirs.
When the writer accepts the job and begins working on Albert’s story, he realizes that the touching love story the old man shared with Solange during the 1970s is his confession to the couple’s serial murder. As a result, he is drawn into Albert’s bloody past. Flashback scenes from several decades ago are set in appropriate settings that are likely to catch your eye and make you wonder where the show is actually being filmed.
