‘God’s Favorite Idiot‘ is a series of apocalyptic comedy series by a middle-class tech support worker named Clark Thompson who becomes an unwary messenger of God. Clark’s life is typical as it often involves sauna sessions with his father, caring for his cats, and abusing his colleague, Emily Luck. However, his normal life took a dramatic turn when he was struck by lightning and gained light.
If that were not enough, the angel confirms that Clark is God’s chosen messenger and that it is his responsibility to save mankind by preventing the coming apocalypse from happening. Apocalyptic preparations and the involvement of a few religious themes throughout the series often keep viewers in awe and make them scratch their heads about production sites.
Where Was God’s Favorite Idiot Series Filmed?
‘God’s Favorite Idot’ is fully documented in Australia, especially in New South Wales and surrounding areas. Important filming of the launch of the comedy series began in March 2021 and was to continue until November of the same year. However, due to some funding issues with Netflix, production was stopped in June 2021 after shooting only the first eight episodes. The next set of episodes is scheduled to take place later.
In June 2022, Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy shared their experience of recording a series in Australia with Variety. They said, “We are very sad to leave Australia, as it has felt like home to us this past year. We have been fortunate to have the best Australian actors and actors, who work hard. We are proud of the ‘Stupid God Loved’ and can’t wait to share it with everyone. ”
Alstonville
An important sequel to the comedy series is shot in Alstonville, a town located in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales. In particular, the production team uses Byron Studios’ resources. Located at 42-46 Commercial Road in Alstonville, the studio has two compact sound segments and 11 hectares of backlot with toilet/shower facilities.

The coastal city of Byron Bay is one of the highlights of the comedy series. In April, the cast and crew of the ‘Beloved Fool of God’ were spotted shooting in a series of shootings in the city. Ballina is a coastal city with a few attractions such as the Richmond River, beaches, Wigmore Arcade, and Missingham Bridge. Lismore, on the other hand, is located northeast of New South Wales and is the regional center for the Northern Rivers region.
