“The Matrix Resurrections” is nothing more than a wonderful cinematic treat. Twenty years after the events of ‘The Matrix Revolution’, the film follows Neo as Keanu Reeves, who lives a normal life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco. However, an encounter with Morpheus takes him to the Matrix world to fight a new enemy.
The film features power-packed performances by Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Lambert Wilson, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Like other action movies in the franchise, “The Matrix Resurrections” features stunning cityscapes.
Where Was The Matrix Resurrections Movie Filmed?
The Matrix Resurrections was filmed in the US and Germany, particularly in California, Illinois, Potsdam, and Berlin. Principal photography began as ‘Project Ice Cream’ in February 2020 but was interrupted in March 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The cast and crew returned to the sets in June 2020 to resume filming following strict pandemic protocols. Major photography was taken in November 2020. The Matrix Resurrections.
California
The filming of The Matrix Resurrections took place primarily in San Francisco, the fourth most populous city in California. A spectacular installation shot was filmed on 1001 Vallejo Street in the Russian Hill neighborhood, which has iconic landmarks of San Francisco, such as the Bay Bridge, the Trans America Pyramid, the SalesForce Tower, and 555 California Street.

Filmed a surprise fight scene in the Financial District. Pine Street in the Financial District is also included in the picture. 181 Fremont, a residential building south of the Market District, serves as a location.
Filming also took place at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Kearney Street with a view to the Columbus Tower / Sentinel building. The film also features 44 Montgomery, One Front Street, 425 California Street, and 150 California Street.
An arranged shot showing Oakland was also used in the film. A key scene was filmed on the Bay Area Rapid Transit Station in downtown San Francisco. The area surrounding North Beach serves as a key location in the film.

The City Club of San Francisco, located at 155 Sansom Street, serves as an important location for the film. Juice Bar Joe & the Juice, Simulated Coffee Shop, located at 235 Montgomery Street. The largest Chinese enclave outside of Asia, Chinatown in San Francisco, is largely in the picture.
Enclave, the oldest Chinatown in North America, is famous for its Chinese cultural identity. A Chinese restaurant called House of Nanking on 919 Kearney Street was also reported to be used for the filming.

The city of Alameda in Almeida County, California also serves as an important filming location. Filming in Alameda took place mainly at Alameda Point. Known as the Island City, Alameda is a tourist destination with beautiful beaches and remarkable museums. The city was one of the locations for “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Resurrections”, the second and third films in the “The Matrix” film series, respectively.
Germany
“The Matrix Resurrections.” Filming in Potsdam took place primarily in Studio Babelsberg, a production center located at 26–53, August-Babel-Street. The facility has been producing films since 1912 and is known as the oldest large-scale film studio in the world. The studio has 22 soundstages, making it one of the largest studios in Europe. The stages are fully occupied with spacious backlights and office space along with the facilities required for large-scale filming.

The studio backlit includes a metropolitan set, a giant green screen, a water tank, and open lots. Due to the state-of-the-art services provided by the studio, it has become one of the most beloved studio facilities in Europe. “The Pianist,” “Ninja Assassin,” “Cloud Atlas” and “We for Vendetta,” are some of the films shot in the studio.
