Furious Season 2 Release Date, Cast and Plot: Everything Fans Need to Know

Furious has quickly become one of Hulu’s most talked-about crime thrillers of 2026, and fans now have a major reason to be excited: the series has officially been renewed for Furious Season 2. The renewal arrived shortly before the Season 1 finale, confirming that the story of FBI agent Alice Black and the complicated world of revenge, trauma and justice is far from over.

Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, Furious stars Emmy Rossum as Alice Black, a former NYPD detective who becomes an FBI agent and finds herself investigating a mysterious female serial killer, Catherine Grace, played by Lola Petticrew. The series combines a crime investigation with an emotional story about trauma, morality and the complicated meaning of justice.

Furious Season 2 Release Date

As of September 1, 2026, Hulu has confirmed that Furious will return for a second season, but an official Season 2 release date has not yet been announced. Hulu announced the renewal on August 27, only a few days before the Season 1 finale aired on August 31.

The timing of the renewal is encouraging because Hulu clearly appears confident in the series. According to reporting from TheWrap, Furious experienced week-over-week viewing growth, with the seventh episode gaining significantly more one-day viewing than the premiere.

The first season premiered on July 27, 2026, with three episodes, followed by weekly releases, and consisted of eight episodes.

Because Season 2 has only recently been renewed, production details are still limited. If filming and post-production follow a typical television schedule, fans could potentially be looking toward 2027 or later, but that remains an estimate rather than an announced date. Recent reporting has suggested that a 2027–2028 window is possible.

Furious Season 2 Cast

The biggest question for Season 2 is which members of the original cast will return. Emmy Rossum is the most obvious expected returning star because Alice Black remains the central character of the series.

Rossum’s Alice is an FBI agent whose investigation into Catherine gradually becomes deeply personal. By the end of Season 1, her character has undergone a major transformation, making her continued story one of the biggest reasons to return for another season.

Lola Petticrew, who plays Catherine Grace, is another important question. Catherine is at the heart of Season 1, but the finale dramatically changes her circumstances. Her return could depend heavily on the direction the writers choose for Season 2.

Other major Season 1 cast members include Scoot McNairy as Danny Kelly, Quincy Tyler Bernstine as Nora Washington, and Jake Lacy, along with Hope Davis, Rob Yang, Steve Way and other recurring performers.

At this point, Hulu has not released an official Season 2 cast list, so fans should treat individual return announcements as unconfirmed until the streamer makes them official.

What Could Furious Season 2 Be About?

Furious Season 2 has an opportunity to take Furious in a completely new direction while keeping Alice Black at the center of the story.

The first season focused on Alice’s investigation into Catherine and gradually revealed that the case was connected to much deeper issues involving trauma, exploitation and powerful people. The finale pushed Alice across an important moral boundary, creating a fascinating setup for the next chapter.

Creator Elizabeth Meriwether has indicated that one of the advantages of television is having the opportunity to spend multiple seasons exploring characters and giving them new cases. She has also suggested that the series could tackle other investigations rather than simply repeating the same storyline.

That means Furious Season 2 could potentially introduce a new major FBI case while continuing Alice’s personal journey.

However, the Season 1 finale also leaves plenty of unresolved emotional material. Alice discovers disturbing information connected to her own past, and her actions suggest that she may no longer be willing to rely entirely on the justice system. This could transform her from an investigator simply solving cases into a character who is personally seeking justice.

Alice Black’s Story Could Get Darker

Alice is arguably the most important character to watch in Season 2. Throughout the first season, she attempts to maintain the boundaries expected from an FBI agent while confronting people and institutions that have failed victims.

The finale challenges that balance dramatically. Alice’s decision involving Jay Easton suggests that her understanding of justice has changed. Furious Season 2 could therefore explore the consequences of that decision and whether she can continue working within the FBI while carrying such a dangerous secret.

Emmy Rossum has also spoken positively about continuing to explore Alice’s complicated character, making her potential return one of the most anticipated aspects of the renewal.

Will Catherine Return?

Catherine’s future is one of the biggest mysteries surrounding Season 2. Her Season 1 storyline reaches a major turning point, but that does not necessarily mean the character has disappeared from the series forever.

The writers could bring Catherine back through flashbacks, prison storylines, new investigations or an unexpected connection to Alice’s next case. Alternatively, Furious Season 2 could move away from Catherine and focus almost entirely on Alice and a new case.

That uncertainty could actually work in the show’s favor because Furious has already demonstrated that its characters can surprise viewers.

What Fans Can Expect

While there are still many unanswered questions, Furious Season 2 is expected to maintain the show’s combination of crime, mystery, psychological drama and morally complicated characters. The central theme of justice is also likely to remain important.

The series has established a world where the difference between a hero and a villain is not always clear. Furious Season 2 could push that idea even further by asking whether Alice herself is becoming the kind of person she once pursued.

For now, the most important update is simple: Furious Season 2 is officially happening, but Hulu has not announced its release date, episode count or complete returning cast yet.

With Season 1 ending on such a dramatic note, fans have plenty of reasons to expect an even darker and more unpredictable second season. Until Hulu reveals more details, 2027 remains a possible target, but it should not be considered the confirmed release year.
