Netflix’s ‘Hot Skull’ or ‘Sicak Kafa’ Based on the 2016 novel ‘Sicak Kafa’ by Afşin Kum, is a Turkish dystopian series created by Mert Baykal set in a time when the world is plagued by an epidemic that people through verbal communication. The story follows Murat Siyavus, a former linguist who lives with his elderly mother and is the only one who does not feel the wrath of this dangerous disease.
Amidst the chaos of an ongoing epidemic, Murat is pursued by the Anti-Epidemic Institute and forced to get right into the hustle and bustle of the streets to use his immunity for the greater good. The mysterious narrative is all the more profound thanks to the great acting of the talented cast of Osman Sonant, Şevket Çoruh, Hazal Subaşı, and Sebnem Hassanisoughi.
Setting a dystopian world against the backdrop of ruined city streets is likely to raise questions about the actual filming locations of ‘Hot Skull’.
Where Was Hot Skull Series Filmed?
Hot Skull is filmed completely in Turkey, mainly in Istanbul. Principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the mystery series reportedly began in May 2021 and wrapped up in late July of that year.
By choosing to film the show in Istanbul, where the story takes place, the film crew succeeds in providing viewers with an immersive and authentic viewing experience.

They’ve reportedly transformed several streets to give the show a scary and dystopian look, while it’s also possible they’ll be using the background soundstage of one of the city’s film studios for some key scenes.
