Apple TV+’s “Causeway” directed by Lila Neugebauer is a psychological drama that revolves around a soldier named Lynsey. She finds it difficult to adjust to her life when she returns home after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a deployment to Afghanistan.
Just when everything in Lynsey’s life seems bleak, she meets a local mechanic, James, who becomes her light at the end of the tunnel. As time passes, they spend some time together and form an unexpected but intimate bond.
The sentimental narrative is complemented by brilliant and heartfelt performances from the talented cast of Jennifer Lawrence, Brian Tyree Henry, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Linda Emond, and Jayne Houdyshell.
The darker undertone used throughout the film sets the tone of the narrative as it reflects Lynsey’s trauma. In addition, the changing landscape of the city keeps viewers curious about the actual shooting locations of ‘Causeway’.

Interestingly, when filming resumed in 2021, Jennifer Lawrence got a new take on her character, Lynsey, due to the changes she went through in her personal life during the hiatus.
Lawrence talked about this in detail in an interview with Vogue in September 2022. The actress said: “Her unsustainable home, her inability to commit to one thing or another because of these internal wounds that are completely invisible but huge — I think I’m with that connected at that particular time in her life,” she said.

“There was so much going on with me at the time that I didn’t realize it. By the time I got back she was pregnant and married and I made it. And I was like, Oh, this is a woman who is afraid to commit.”
