Blade of the 47 Ronin is a 2022 action fantasy movie directed by Ron Yuan, written by John Swetnam, Aimee Garcia, and AJ Mendez, and is the sequel to 47 Ronin. The film takes place 300 years after its predecessor and details the struggle for survival of the last descendants of the 47 Ronin.
The action-packed and suspenseful story is complemented by impressive performances from a group of talented actors and actresses, including Anna Akana, Teresa Ting, Mark Dacascos, Mike Moh, and Dustin Nguyen. Where Was Blade of the 47 Ronin Movie Filmed?
Blade of the 47 Ronin was shot in Mexico and Hungary, mainly in Budapest and Mexico City. Principal photography of the film is reported to take place at the end of 2021.
According to reports, the production team’s original plan was to start filming earlier and that too in Thailand, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to change their plans accordingly.
Mexico
Additional parts for “Blade of the 47 Ronin” were apparently filmed in Mexico City, the capital and largest city of Mexico, and also reportedly the most populous city in North America.

Hungary
Most of the key sequences for “Blade of the 47 Ronin” were shot in and around Budapest, Hungary’s capital and most populous city. As it turns out, the camera crew camped in different parts of the city to shoot key scenes against suitable backdrops. It is possible that they even used the equipment of one of the film studios in and around Budapest to film some of the action sequences.
Located right in the center of the Carpathian Basin, Budapest is considered a Beta+ global city with significant influence in several sectors such as art, technology, fashion, media, business, entertainment, finance, and education.
The city is home to several well-maintained monuments, including the Aquincum Museum, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Millennium Monument, and the Nagytétény Castle Museum, some of which you can see in the film.
