AppleTV+’s “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” Based on the book of the same name by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue, is a biographical war comedy written and directed by Peter Farrelly. In a New York bar in 1967, several men who have lost loved ones in the ongoing Vietnam War meet, and one of them comes up with an absurd idea – to sneak into Vietnam, find his combat buddies, and send them messages from back home over a few beers.
Among the men in the bar is one 26-year-old US Marine Corps veteran, John Donohue, who accepts the challenge to complete an impossible task.

Where Was The Greatest Beer Run Ever Movie Filmed?
“The Greatest Beer Run Ever” was filmed in Thailand and New Jersey, specifically in Chiang Dao, Bangkok, Hua Hin, Ratchaburi, Jersey City, Paterson, North Bergen, and Weehawken.
Principal photography on the Zac Efron starrer reportedly began in September 2021 and wrapped up in December of that year. Now, without further ado, we’ll walk you through all the specific locations that appear in the war comedy!
Thailand
Most of the sequences set in Vietnam in “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” were filmed in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital and most populous city. The film crew first traveled to Bangkok to shoot many of the war scenes set in Vietnam. Located in the Chao Phraya River Delta in Thailand’s central plain, Bangkok has been a prominent production location for many other projects such as “In the Mood for Love,” “Kate,” “The Serpent” and “Ms. Miracle.’

For filming purposes, the team of ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ also traveled to Ratchaburi Province and Chiang Dao District in Chiang Mai Province. In addition, Hua Hin District of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province represented Danang Airport in Vietnam.
New Jersey
For the second phase of filming, the cast and crew of “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” traveled to Jersey City, New Jersey’s second most populous city in New Jersey. From the looks of it, they traveled around the city to shoot various background sequences suitable for the film.

Some locations where the team filmed key scenes include the Michalski Funeral Home, the former Bromirski Funeral Home, the Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, and Van Vorst Park. Located in Hudson County, Jersey City has hosted the production of several movies and television shows over the years. Some notable ones are “Warrior”, “Bruised” “Joker”, and “The Equalizer”.
Additional portions for “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” were recorded in North Bergen, a town in northern Hudson County. The film crew reportedly set up camp in and around the Brass Rail Pub at 7600 Bergenline Avenue, whose exterior has been remodeled and renamed Doc Fiddler’s Pub.

Additionally, 76th Street in North Bergen was transformed into 20th Street and Vermilyea Avenue in New York City, while Braddock Park features in some scenes. Later, the team visited Weehawken, another town in the same county. Necessary sequences were further filmed in Paterson, a city near Passaic County; the production team specially used the premises of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph.
