Smile is a 2020 psychological horror film written and directed by Parker Finn, Laura Hasn’t Slept. It chronicles the bizarre and terrifying series of events that Dr. Rose Cotter begins to experience after witnessing a traumatic incident involving her patient. To put an end to such events, she must face her scarred past head-on before an overwhelming sense of dread takes over her entire life.

Where Was Smile Movie Filmed?
“Smile” was filmed exclusively in New Jersey, specifically in Jersey City, Union County, and Hoboken. Principal photography on the horror film reportedly began in October 2021 under the working title of ‘Something’s Wrong With Rose’ and wrapped up after about a month in November of that year.

New Jersey
According to reports, many key sequences for “Smile” were shot in Jersey City, New Jersey’s second most populous city. Located on a peninsula known as Bergen Neck, it is the county seat of Hudson County.

Jersey City is home to several monuments and tourist attractions, such as the Statue of Liberty National Monument, the Colgate Clock, the Liberty Science Center, the Jersey City Free Public Library, and the Jersey City Museum. In addition, it was a pivotal filming location for many productions such as “Warrior”, “A Beautiful Mind” “Joker”, and “The Equalizer”.
Additional parts for “Smile” were reportedly filmed in Union County in northern New Jersey. In particular, the cast and crew used the Union County Jail at 15 Elizabethtown Plaza in Elizabeth to shoot some key scenes for the film.

Additionally, during filming, the team was spotted taping a few servings on location at the Arlington Diner at 1 River Road in North Arlington. In addition, they set up camp in and around Hoboken, a city in Hudson County, New Jersey.
