Netflix’s The Perfumier or Der Parfumeur, Directed by Nils Willbrandt, is a German crime thriller that revolves around a perfume maker and a female detective. After losing her sense of smell, a detective joins forces with a perfume maker to regain her sense of smell and reunite with her lover.
However, a deranged perfume maker indulges in murderous methods to create the perfect scent, making for a much more complicated partnership for the detective. The idea of a killer who kills people for their scent seems to be loosely inspired by the 2006 film “The Perfumier: A Murderer’s Tale.”

Where Was The Perfumier Movie Filmed?
The Perfumier was filmed mainly in Poland and Spain, specifically in Gdańsk and Garrotx. Principal photography of the German film is believed to have started in early May 2021 and ended in late June of that year. Poland
Gdańsk, the capital and largest city of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the most important city in the Pomeranian region, may have seen many key sequences for “The Perfumier” and its surroundings. From the looks of it, the film crew appeared to be traveling across the city to record various scenes against suitable backdrops.

Known as Danzig in German, it is located on the Baltic Sea coast in northern Poland. The city is home to a number of tourist attractions, including the National Museum, the World War II Museum, the European Solidarity Center, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, and the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theater to name a few.
Spain
The cast and crew traveled to Garrotxa, a comarca or county in Girona, Catalonia, to film other parts of “The Perfumier”. To be specific, they seem to have set up camp in and around a beautiful old stone house known as Mas Pujou.

It is located in the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa and near the capital of Garrotxa, Olot. Over the years, Garrotxa has hosted the production of several film projects. Some of them are “Vulcania” “Black Bread”, “Summer 1993”, and “La punyalada”.
