Monarch Season 1 Episode 3: Synopsis
Monarch Season 1 Episode 3, In the third act of the episode, Luke learns that Dottie did not write the letters the siblings received. Nicky faked them instead. His suspicion that Dottie did not die of cancer thus turns into reality. Luke decides to contact the medical examiner to find out the true cause of Dottie’s death.
In addition, he becomes convinced that Nicky is hiding something from him. But the big reveal comes in the final scene of the episode, which takes viewers three months into the future. Monarch Season 1 Episode 3.
Monarch Season 1 Episode 2: Recap
The second episode titled ‘There’s Only One Queen’ opens with Albie Roman burying a dead body. However, on the way home, a police officer notices the license plate of Albie’s car and conducts a search. As stated in the first episode, the incident takes place roughly three months after Dottie’s death.
In the present, Luke is devastated when he learns of his mother’s death and refuses to believe that she died of cancer. The nation mourns the loss of their “Queen of the Country” while Nicky and Gigi devise a way to keep the true cause of Dottie’s death a secret.
The sisters are working on Dottie’s funeral, which she has planned in advance and left precise instructions for. However, when Gigi reveals that the media is labeling her as the next “Queen of Country”, it sparks jealousy between her and Nicky. According to Dottie’s will, the Roman siblings receive letters from their late mother.
However, Gigi reads the letter with displeasure as it does not reflect Dottie’s true feelings for her. The sisters argue as Luke tries to calm them down, but creates a scene outside their home. Albie is forced to fire a blind shot to calm his children.
In the end, Nicky and Gigi put their differences aside and work to make the funeral a success. However, Dottie’s sister Nellie encourages Gigi not to give up her chance at stardom and to fight with Nicky for their mother’s legacy. Elsewhere, Luke learns that Albie had a fight with Dottie right before her death. Therefore, he suspects that there is something fishy about his mother’s death. As a result, Luke begins to question, but Albie discourages him from doing so.
At the funeral, Nellie refuses to play one of her sister’s songs, but Luke tactfully persuades her to do so. However, during Nellie’s performance, a hologram of Dottie appears and steals the show, much to Nellie’s dismay. Albie is about to take the stage to pay tribute to his dead wife. However, Luke tells him that the song he is about to sing have copyright issues and could be sued by the Romans.
While Albie considers not coming forward, a conversation with his grandson Ace convinces the Roman Patriarch to come forward. After the funeral, Luke meets Kelly and the duo continues their romance behind Gigi’s back.
