As the story takes place in London in the 1950s, it makes sense why the filmmakers decided to shoot the film in the city. Now we take you to all the specific locations in the See How They Run murder mystery movie!
All the pivotal sequences for “See How They Run” took place in and around London, the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. The team camped at The Savoy Hotel in the Strand in the City of Westminster in central London, which served as a key filming location for the film. For the shooting of The Ambassadors Theatre, they combined the exteriors and interiors of various theaters across Big Smoke to create one that suited the project’s requirements.
While St. Martin’s Theater on West Street near Shaftesbury Avenue served as the exterior of The Ambassadors Theatre, The Dominion Theater at 268-269 Tottenham Court Road represented the foyer of the theatre. Scenes involving the stage and auditorium of The Ambassadors Theater were filmed at The Old Vic in The Cut. In addition, the theatre’s bar sequences were filmed at the Freemasons’ Hall at 60 Great Queen Street. Parts of Hoxton Hall at 130 Hoxton Street were used to double for The Ambassadors Theatre.
Several exterior scenes for the mystery film were shot in various parks and streets, including Windsor Great Park at The Crown Estate Windsor Great Park, Covent Garden in London’s West End, and Boundary Street in London’s Tower Hamlets. Although most of the film was shot on location, several parts were filmed at Twickenham Film Studios at The Barons and ITV Studios Bovingdon at Bovingdon Airport on Chesham Road in Hemel Hempstead, just outside London.
Twickenham Film Studios is home to three studios of varying sizes. In addition, it offers several production services, including production offices, on-site parking, prop shops, an art department, green rooms, and more, making it an ideal shooting location for various types of on-screen projects. On the other hand, ITV Studios Bovingdon comes with a large filming stage with a concrete floor, generous headroom, and plenty of outside space. There is also a production office, dressing rooms, make-up and hair salon, and medical rooms.
In a September 2022 interview with RadioTimes, director Tom George explained how the cast and crew got to the film’s locations. “We’ve been fortunate with some of the locations we’ve shot,” he said. “Because we happened to be filming during the third lockdown in London. And that meant that one of the silver linings was that we could get into some incredible places in London that we simply wouldn’t have been able to use otherwise.” “See How They Run.”
