Diary of a Gigolo (Spanish: Diario de un gigoló) is an American television miniseries produced by Underground for Telemundo. Starring Jesús Castro, Victoria White and Fabiola Campomanes. Diary of a Gigolo premiered on Netflix on September 7, 2022.
“Diary of a Gigolo” is an excruciatingly long 10 episodes that might bore you to death. Netflix continues to use its same old formula – a little murder, mystery, and a lot of scenes. There’s no point in complaining about the countless subplots or run-of-the-mill visuals, but when it comes to editing, it was really disappointing.
There are too many unnecessary scenes that drag out the story without any real purpose. The unraveling of the murder mystery series will remind you of another Netflix disaster, Elite. A murder has occurred and the suspects are brought in for questioning, and meanwhile, the audience learns about the protagonist’s past. “Diary of A Gigolo Season 1.”
Emanuel lived in an orphanage with his little brother. One night he and a friend decided to rob a store, but his friend shot the owner out of fear. Emanuel fled the scene and fled to a house where he was found by an elderly woman, Minou. She saved him from the police and gave him shelter and food. Minou owned an art gallery, a front for a sex racket she secretly ran.
She catered to the needs of wealthy women who trusted her to help them find the pleasures that had been denied them all their lives. Minou was proud of her business. She believed that her service was a real help to women who are often ignored and left unsatisfied. Emanuel was popular with the ladies; he had a long list of clients who preferred him over all others. One such woman was Ana, the owner of a pharmaceutical company.
After the death of her husband due to a car accident, she married his close associate Victor. While Victor helped her run the shop and the house, she needed Emanuel to meet her needs. Her daughter Julia ignored her most of the time. She believed that her mother could never come to terms with the fact that she survived the accident, but her husband did not. Julia kept to herself.
She expressed herself with her art. Ana was worried about her daughter, knowing how much she lacked a social life. Discussing her fears with her best friend Dolores at the party, she advises her to organize a plan to help Julia experience romance and intimacy. Dolores was not serious and had no intention of suggesting that Anna share her escort with her daughter. But Ana understood that and decided to work on it.
She tried to convince Emanuel to give her daughter company, but he refused. He explained how consent was necessary for the business he was in and that he couldn’t base a relationship on a lie. He only offered his service to those who asked for it, but Ana wasn’t ready to give up. She left Bianco a check and Julia’s diary, in which she wrote down her deepest and darkest thoughts.
Emanuel ignored it, but when he saw that Minou was trying to pay off his debt, he decided to take the job. He read Julia’s notebook and realized how troubled she was. She could never get over the accident that took her father. She was trying to live with herself and Emanuel decided to change her life. With Ana’s help, he enrolled in a photography course that Julia was attending and that’s how he got to her.
Emanuel is now being investigated by the police for murder. The victim’s body was found in his home, so he was clearly a suspect, but he denied involvement in the murder. Did Ana and Emanuel’s arrangement ultimately result in murder? Who was responsible and what was their motive?
Diary Of A Gigolo Ending, Explained: What Happened At The End of The Season?
Since, according to the police investigation, the impact of the object on the back of Ana’s head appeared to be the work of a woman, they could no longer doubt Emanuel. They doubted that Florencia could have murdered Ana because she had reasons to hate her. Florencia shared an intimate relationship with Victor; therefore, she could have attacked Ana out of jealousy. The murder object was found in Victor’s car and Florencia had his car the night of the murder, so the police named her as a suspect.
She was imprisoned and left devastated by Mina. Florencia was her daughter and she could not accept that she could be implicated in the murder. The next day, Minou went to the police and confessed to murdering Anu. She met her that morning and later found her at Emanuel’s house, they had an argument, as a result of which she assaulted her. Although the police did not find her confession convincing, they could not dismiss her theory. Minou knew her daughter was weak and could not survive in prison.
She believed they were convicted before the trial because of their profession. Florencia was the daughter of Senate candidate Carlos. While working as a prostitute, Minou had a child with him. To protect her daughter, she threatened to tell the world about his past unless he released Florence from prison. Minou was found guilty and had to serve time in prison, while her daughter was left free. Meanwhile, Julia learned about Emanuel’s profession because of the case.
She learned it was all a setup and refused to give him another chance. Emanuel left the city soon after. Julia took charge of her own life after her mother’s death. She filed a lawsuit against Victor, accusing him of falsifying documents, bribery, and drug-related crimes. She decided to become the head of the company and got rid of everyone who was on Victor’s side.
After a year, Emanuel returned and noticed that Julia had started exhibiting her art. The breakup with Emanuel inspired her to work. He wrote a note for her because he knew she would visit the exhibition space. After reading the message, she rushed to his hotel room and they decided to let go of their past and build a future together. The next morning, Julia was supposed to leave with Emanuel, but she left some documents behind, which Emanuel went to collect. He found a sparkly object in her room, which was spread all over the scene of the murder.
It was enough to make him suspicious, and after leaving the house he asked her if she had murdered her mother. Julia agreed that she killed her mother out of anger and frustration. When she was admitted to the hospital, she remembered what led up to the car accident. She sneaked out of the hospital and went to Emanuel’s house. She believed that only he could calm her down. But when she entered, she saw her mother lying on the bed, almost naked. She was shocked by this, but Ana was drunk and not afraid.
She told her all about Emanuel, how it was all her plan and how he was paid to pretend he loved her. Ana felt terrible; she described the arrangement in a way that suggested Julia was almost unloved. Julia could no longer bear her mother’s insults; she grabbed the object and attacked her behind the head. She had killed her mother in a moment of rage, but now she had to deal with the result. She decides to blame her death on Victor and places the murder weapon in his car. After murdering her mother, she discreetly returned to the hospital. She was never considered a suspect because she had an alibi.
She didn’t regret killing her mother, but she didn’t regret not ending Victor’s life. So she managed to get contacts in prison that later burned him, just as he killed her father. After telling the whole truth, Julia said that love is painful, but one must be willing to make sacrifices to enjoy it and asked if Emanuel felt the same. How Emanuel reacted after realizing he was in love with a murderer who lived without any remorse is unknown.
Of course, Ana and Victor betrayed Julia’s trust. Victor destroyed her family and deserved to suffer, but can revenge in the form of murder be justified? The fact that she feels no pity for an innocent woman who is spending time in prison for her actions speaks volumes. If Emanuel refused to be with her, he could meet a similar fate because he knows her truth, but if he agreed to continue his relationship, then he would be betraying Mina, the woman who gave him life when he had nothing.
“Diary of a Gigolo” ends on an open note, leaving the audience to guess Emanuel’s likely decision. The ending could also hint at the return of “Diary of a Gigolo” for another season. We may learn what Emanuel decided to do after learning the truth. Will he forgive Julia’s actions or will he fight for Minou’s freedom?
