Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie: Synopsis
In 2044, the alien Krang invaded Earth and the resistance fell. In a last-ditch effort, Leonardo and Michelangelo, now masters with the rest of their family who died in the war, send their student Casey Jones back in time to stop the invasion by finding the key that allowed the Krangs to come to Earth. It costs Leo and Mikey their lives.
Casey successfully reaches the present, two years after Shredder’s defeat. After Leo breaks Donatello’s record for stacking pizza boxes, Raphael alerts them both and Mikey to the theft of the Hypno-Potamus and the Warren Stone, with the key Casey is looking for being part of the stolen items. The Turtles manage to stop them, but the Foot Ninjas arrive and seize the key. Back at the new lair, Raph and Leo argue over his growing ego.
Meanwhile, Casey finds April O’Neil, who knocks him out and takes him to the turtles’ lair. He then explains his mission and after mentioning Krang, Splinter explains that they came to Earth a long time ago and were exiled to another realm by a group of warriors who created and used the key, a mystical weapon and that they are worshiped by the foot.
The Turtles, along with April, Splinter, and Casey, go after the Foot, who managed to open the portal. Their fight against the Krangs causes them to lose their mystical powers and forces them to retreat, but Leo manages to get hold of the key and close the portal. To protect Leo, Raph forces him to flee while he is captured.
Afterward, the remaining Turtles, along with Casey, go after Krang and Raph, while Splinter and April stay behind to get rid of the key. The Krangs manage to find the Turtles’ lair through Rapha, then parasitically possess members of the Foot Clan and send them after the key while they prepare a portal atop the subway tower, the tallest building in the city.
The Turtles and Casey are ambushed in the subway tunnels and separated. Casey calls Leo out on his arrogance before they reunite with the rest of the Turtles. They then find Raph, who was possessed by Krang, and take possession of the key, Krang then uses the key to open a portal and summon the Technodrome. The Krang launched an attack on New York City and easily defeated the US military.
While April, Splinter, and Casey occupy the Krang forces, the Turtles board the ship. Leo goes after Raph while Donnie and Mikey try to take control of the ship. They are captured, but Leo reaches out to Raph and helps him free, and the brothers manage to regain their mystical powers. The four fight bravely, but the Krangs are too strong, Mikey, Donnie, and Raph are thrown from the ship during the battle.
Leo forces the Krangs back into their prison realm and orders Casey to close the portal, resulting in the Technodrome being split in half and destroyed. Leo is imprisoned in the realm, but Mikey, Raph, and Donnie rescue him using Mikey’s newly developed mystical powers, leaving Krang alone in the prison realm, preventing the destruction of Earth’s future.
Sometime later, the heroes enjoy pizza on the Brooklyn Bridge, with Casey revealing that former Foot Clan recruit Cassandra Jones is his mother. They watch the city rebuild and vow to defend it when needed. Afterward, Raph tries to break Leo’s record in a pizza box. “Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie: Ending Explained:
The Krangs are eventually defeated as the entire team begins to work together in sync. However, the Krang leader’s sister is trapped under the decapitated building and the metal ball is used to shatter the buildings. She is then shown being taken away in a truck, either for experimentation or imprisonment.
This Krang wasn’t actually trapped in the void, which could also be a bigger problem for the turtles later on. This could be the director’s way of hinting that there is more to come.
Casey was never sent back to the future. According to time in that timeline, it doesn’t exist yet. Interacting with multiple people could lead to a glitch in the paradox that could harm Casey. However, since defeating the Krang was his purpose and succeeding in it, the future has already taken over, which could indicate the fact that Casey’s timeline has ceased to exist.
This could lead to his disappearance, or it could also indicate that the future remains intact due to the other Krang simply escaping and being an even bigger threat. But these are just theories that depend on the director to prove them right or wrong. “Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
