“Devils” is a financial drama series created by Alessandro Sermoneta, Mario Ruggeri, Elena Bucaccio, Guido Maria Brera, Daniele Cesarano, Barbara Petronio and Ezio Abbate. The story revolves around a competent Italian trader named Massimo Ruggero who works at New York London Investment Bank (NYL) as head of trading. Even though there is a financial crisis going on all over Europe, he can still make hundreds of millions for his company.
Massimo is the favorite to become the bank’s deputy CEO, as he has the full support of NYL’s US CEO Dominic Morgan. However, when the former becomes embroiled in a scandal, the CEO selects Edward Stuart as the new Vice-CEO.
When Edward suddenly dies, convinced it was a set-up, things take a turn for the worse and Massimo realizes an evil plot is at work. While the suspenseful narrative keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, the interesting use of various locations makes one wonder about the actual shooting locations of “Devils.”
Where Was Devils Series Filmed?
“Devils” is filmed in Italy and England, specifically in Rome, the province of Salerno, London, and Kent. Principal photography for the first iteration of the thriller series began in September 2018 and ended in February 2019. As for the second round, it appeared to begin in late March 2021 and wrap up in July of that year.
Although most of the story takes place in London, only the exterior shots are shot there, while a significant portion of the interior shots is shot in Rome.
Rome
Many pivotal sequences for ‘Devils’ are shot in and around Rome, the capital of Italy. Nouveau Center des Congrès de Rome (La Nuvola) on Viale Asia, 40/44 pairs for London’s Canary Wharf in the series. For filming scenes involving the Subterranea headquarters, the production team is said to be using an abandoned church, an archaeological site, and a disused apartment in the center of Rome.
In Season 2, the cast and crew set up camp at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (aka Colosseo Quadrato) on the Quadrato della Concordia.

In addition, Rita Terenzi, the creator of the series, said that the London office of the New York-London Investment Bank (NYL) is one of the protagonists of the story; the interiors of this office are completely built-in studios. She went on to explain:
“The stage design and floor equipment were conceived in a realistic manner, the workstations were designed like a war room. Great equipment and materials, several mirrors that allow the director to take sophisticated but realistic and sober photographs, without any glamorous extravagances.’

In an interview with TV Insider in early October 2020, actor Patrick Dempsey was asked about the difference he felt working on “Devils” compared to any other American series. He said: “The classes were much better. They are very civilized. We worked 10 hours a day, not 15 or 16 hours a day.
I think that made it a lot more intense and we got a lot more done in less time. I liked that way of working. And I was in Rome! I had this wonderful city to walk around and explore, especially at night. There is so much history. It was important to me as a life experience.”
Province of Salerno
Several portions of “Devils” are also filmed in the province of Salerno, located in the Campania region of Italy. In particular, the production team camped in Positano, a village and town on the Amalfi Coast, to shoot some scenes for the series.
London
The next installments in the financial thriller series take place in London, where most of the story takes place. Canary Wharf tube station, located in Travelcard Zone 2 in Canary Wharf, serves as the main filming location for the series.

As mentioned above, the production unit traveled across London to shoot all the necessary exterior shots for ‘Devils’.
Kent
In order to shoot some important scenes, the “Devils” team even traveled to Kent, a county in the southeast of England that borders Greater London in the northwest. To be specific, the cliff-top dialogue scene from Season 1 was filmed on location at Kingsgate Bay in Broadstairs.
