“Secret Headquarters” was primarily provided in Atlanta and the surrounding cities, collectively known as the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. To add authenticity to the scenes, the cast and crew set up an actual secret headquarters at Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, a city in Gwinnett County.
According to director Henry Joost, the realistic set instead of green screens helped the cast and crew feel immersed in the scenes during production.

Interestingly, the younger actors didn’t see what the scene looked like until they entered the secret headquarters with cameras rolling to capture their real reactions. The cast of lead Owen Wilson had a great time making the film; from funny behind-the-scenes antics to bonding trips, the cast certainly enjoyed working together on the project.
