After five seasons of being trapped on two different dinosaur-infested islands, the plucky teenage heroes of Netflix’s Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous finally make it home, but their latest adventure also directly affects the events of Jurassic World Dominion. In Camp Cretaceous Season 5, Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega), Darius (Paul-Mikél Williams), Yasmina (Kausar Mohammed), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), and Ben (Sean Giambrone) thwart the plans of Daniel Kon (Andrew Kishino), father Kenji (Ryan Potter).
Kon, the president of Mantah Corp, brought Kenji to his side and made a deal with Dr. Lewis Dodgson (Adam Harrington) on selling his dinosaur mind control technology to BioSyn.
Realizing that his father is a terrible person, Kenji returns to his friends to regain their trust. Meanwhile, Mr. Kon and his mercenaries took control of the dinosaurs, including Isla Nublar’s Carnotaurus Toro and the Spinosaurus, and the villains nearly killed the teenagers.
However, Kon fell into an elaborate trap by the campers to make him believe that Mantah Corp’s island core was undergoing critical mass. Kon fled the island, leaving Kenji in the process, though he was arrested by the police. After saving the Mantah Corp island and the dinosaurs, the campers are reunited with Brand (Benjamin Flores, Jr.), Darius’ older brother, as well as the original children’s camp counselor Roxie (Jameela Jamil) and Dave (Glen Powell). ) and Dr. Mae Turner (Kirby Howell-Baptiste).
Roxie, Dave, and Brand begin a rescue mission for Darius and the others and meet up with Mae on Isla Nublar. They finally brought the teenagers home, where the campers were reunited with their loved ones. Due to their incredible story of survival in Jurassic World, the children became known as The Nublar Six.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 5: Synopsis
Camp Cretaceous Season 5 Epilogue takes place immediately after the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The second Jurassic World movie is set in 2018, 3 years after the Nublar Six were stranded in Jurassic World and subsequently on Mantah Corp Island throughout the Cretaceous camp.
Counting the six-month time jump between Seasons 2 and 3 of Camp Cretaceous that brought Netflix’s introduction to the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom prologue when the Mosasaurus escaped from the island — which happened about a year and a half before the main story of Fallen Kingdom — Nublar Six was probably missing about the whole year. All the teenagers should have been about a year older by the time they were finally rescued.
The roughly two-year time jump between the end of Camp Cretaceous and the epilogue at the end of Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom accounts for how much Nublar Six has changed. Darius is visibly older and is roughly 16 years old in the epilogue. The dinosaur expert has also become a celebrity, speaking publicly online about his experiences with prehistoric creatures from Jurassic World. Kenji is also older and late in life; he apparently inherited his family’s fortune and was adopted by Darius’s family, the Bowmans.
Sammy is back at the family ranch in Texas and Yasmina pays her a visit, while Ben, who is also visibly older, takes a vacation to Mantah Corp Island to see his pet ankylosaur Bumpy. Dr. Mae Turner also takes care of the dinosaurs on Mantah Corp. Island. Brooklynn, who became an underground reporter, also asked Darius if he had heard of Lockwood Manor, but was interrupted before she could report that the dinosaurs had been freed by Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon). The final shot of Camp Cretaceous Season 5 is Darius seeing a Brachiosaurus appear near his house, signifying that the end of Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom has already come.
The Camp Cretaceous season 5 finale saw the T-Rex finally get its revenge on the Spinosaurus. In Jurassic Park III, the Spinosaurus established itself as the apex predator of Isla Sorna by quickly killing the T-Rex. The penultimate episode of Camp Cretaceous Season 5, “The Last Stand”, repeated this humiliation of the T-Rex when the Spinosaurus, who was under the mind control of Mr. Kon and his mercenaries, seemingly killed Mantah Corp Island’s largest T-Rex, Big Eatie. the younger T-Rex, Little Eatie, watched helplessly.
However, Big Eatie survived and returned to exact revenge on Spinosaurus in the Camp Cretaceous series finale. Even though the Spinosaurus was stripped of Kona’s mind control, she found herself at the mercy of both the T-Rex, the Big Eatie, and the Little Eatie. The T-Rexes teamed up the Spinosaurus with two teams and sent her on the run. Although they are different T-Rexes than the one the Spinosaurus killed in Jurassic Park III, Camp Cretaceous’ Spino is the same as the one in the film, so it is a spiritual victory and revenge for the T-Rexe’s death at the hands of the Spinosaurus.
There’s also another nod to Steven Spielberg’s famous “Raptors in the Kitchen” sequence in Jurassic Park. Some of the Nublar Six are trapped in a warehouse with Velociraptors in the Camp Cretaceous season 5 finale, and the scene plays out like a cat-and-mouse game similar to the “Raptors in the Kitchen” moment in Jurassic Park. Like Tim (Joseph Mazzello) and Lex Murphy (Ariana Richards), the campers survived the predators and eventually escaped the dinosaur-infested island.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 5 Ending, Explained: What Happened At The End of The Season?
Camp Cretaceous Season 5 has two major ties to Jurassic World Dominion. First, Lewis Dodgson’s visit to Isla Nublar allows him to find a can of Barbasol that his younger self (played by Cameron Thor) gave to the late Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) in Jurassic Park. This explains why Dodgson (Campbell Scott) had a can of Barbasol Jurassic World Dominion, which the movie never explained. Dodgson also survives a dilophosaurus attack in Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous and shows his eventual death by a dilophosaurus attack in Jurassic World Dominion.
In addition, Mantah Corp’s technology for mentally subduing dinosaurs, developed by Dr. Mae Turner, is how BioSyn was able to control the dinosaurs in their Italian sanctuary in the Jurassic World Dominion. Dodgson made a business deal to buy the technology from Mr. Kon in Camp Cretaceous Season 5. However, Nublar Six foiled Kon’s ability to make microchips implanted in dinosaurs, which leaves a plot hole as to how BioSyn had the technology anyway. Dominion.
The most likely solution is that Dodgson and BioSyn must have bought Mantah Corp in the years between Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World Dominion. This would mean that Dodgson found out the location of Kon’s secret island and obtained all the technology (and dinosaurs) inside.
For viewers who have watched and enjoyed all five seasons of Camp Cretaceous on Netflix, it is disappointing that the show’s events and characters are not referenced in Jurassic World Dominion. After all, given the callbacks to the Steven Spielberg films and the Jurassic franchise’s numerous easter eggs, it would be easy to drop a mention of the Nublar Six somewhere in the film, perhaps during a TV report.
It’s also quite frustrating that Camp Cretaceous is being ignored as Jurassic World Dominion is betting on an animated series to explain why Dodgson Nedry’s Barbasol had a can and how BioSyn had the technology to control the dinosaurs that Camp Cretaceous seasons 4 and 5 focused on.
However, the audience that watched Camp Cretaceous on Netflix is still relatively small compared to Jurassic World Dominion’s regular audience. The film also takes place four years after the Camp Cretaceous epilogue, so the survival of the Nublar Six in Jurassic World is no longer that big of news in the Dominion timeline, especially since Isla Nublar was destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Siba.
Additionally, the Nublar Six are not easily referenced as the voice actors bear little resemblance to their animated characters, so it would be difficult and distracting to integrate them into Jurassic World Dominion. Additionally, Dominion focused on connecting older Jurassic Park characters with Jurassic World heroes, and none of them had any interaction or direct knowledge of Camp Cretaceous and Nublar Six.
