Godse: Movie Synopsis
The film opens with Vaishali going to a hostage negotiation right from her home where her prospective groom has come to see her, a very common practice in Asian households. The hostage situation is that a pregnant woman is being held in a house by two armed men along with other people.
Her boss is about to send forces when Vaishali asks him for some time to negotiate with them. As she asks the robbers to let the woman go, they see the forces entering the house. In the ensuing chaos, one of them dies while the other escapes, but not before slitting the throat of a pregnant woman. Vaishali is greatly affected by this incident and decides to resign from her job. Her boss tells her that he is going on a trip for ten days, and if her decision does not change after that time, he will let her leave the department.
Meanwhile, it is a difficult time for the state as many important officials are kidnapped and the police are at a loss. A colleague, Vaishali, comes to take her to work, though she is reluctant to go. He lets her know that the Home Secretary is asking for her. Once there, she is immediately taken to a room where she is told to speak to the person on the screen.
Vaishali was not given any further details due to a lack of time. When he turns on the screen, she finds a man who introduces himself as Godse. Vaishali is understood to be negotiating the hostage situation, but she has no idea otherwise. Godse immediately asks her about her measurements, which angers her and she hangs up. When she demands answers from her superiors, they berate her and tell her to talk to him. Godse calls back and Vaishali tells him to call her later as she is busy with something.
Such a bold move amuses Gods, but angers her superiors. When she demands answers from them, they send another officer to negotiate. And that’s when Godse reveals his first card. He shows them that he has SP hostage and demands to speak to Vaishali.
As she continues the call to appease his anger, she tells him her measurements and resets the tone of their conversation. Godse asks her to bring Minister of State for Industries Phani Kumar to class if she wants to know the reason for his action. Vaishali tells him that it would literally be impossible, but Godse lets her know that she has no choice.
Based on his demands, the ministry tracks down the minister. He is caught fishing on a boat in his pajamas and is brought into that state. Vaishali lends him a coat on call. Once Godse sees the minister, he introduces one of the kidnapped officials and asks Phani Kumar if he recognizes him. The minister tells him that he is Keshava Rao, a prominent industrialist.
Godse keeps asking him about the man and the minister gets the right answer to all of them. But this was a trap as Godse asked to see what the minister was wearing. Finding him in his pajamas, she asks him how he could be so relaxed when a prominent industrialist was absent.
A series of interrogations forces the minister to reveal that Keshava Rao is just a front for the many shell companies he owns. Vaishali is shocked by this revelation but loses control when Godse is shot by SP. She is replaced by another officer to handle the case.
Vaishali starts digging into Godse’s identity and discovers that his real name is Vishwanath Ramanathan and he is a prominent industrialist in London. On the other hand, as the negotiations continue, Godse demands that Vaishali be brought back and she is. But this time, he insists on meeting MP Ajay Sarathi within an hour.
While the police try to bring him to the station, Ajay Sarathi and a group of ministers have a meeting with the Chief Minister and he tells them to give Godse whatever he asks for. Back in the meeting room, when Ajay Sarathi is talking to Godse, he asks him why he killed Shalini. The whole room is confused as to who Shalini is, which is when Godse reveals that it was the pregnant woman who died and she was his wife. That’s the clue to his story.
Godse Ending Explained: What Happened At The End?
As we see, Godse successfully evades the police, reaches the Chief Minister’s residence, and kills him. But before doing so, he will provide full proof of the wrongdoing of Vaishali officials. While still figuring out what to do about it, Godse blows himself up along with the minister’s house and commits suicide. Believing in Godse’s vision, Vaishali and Brahmaji bring proof to the governor, who promises that justice will be done.
Vishwanath Ramanathan aka Gods is on a mission to tell the public the truth about the nefarious activities of industrialists. When Godse was still Vishwanath Ramanathan, he was a successful businessman in London. One day he was approached by a group of officials who asked him to bring his industry to India to develop the country.
Godse tells them he will think about it. A few weeks later, on a trip to the country for a school reunion, he witnesses the suicide of a classmate who, despite being highly qualified, was unable to make ends meet due to a lack of job opportunities.
Deeply moved, he decides to take his business to India and create job opportunities for the youth. However, he faces huge opposition from the very officials who once supported him, who insist that he must pay them bribes to keep his operations going. When he refuses to surrender, Godse enacts a plan to kill him, his friends, and his wife. He miraculously survives.
After losing everyone dear to him, he now has only one vision: revenge. Back to the present, Godse live streamed his entire story and now the entire public knows the truth. It remains to provide concrete evidence for this.
