Brandon Leake was born on May 4, 1992. He is a renowned poet, teacher, speaker, and winner of the 15th season of America’s Got Talent. He became the first voice poet to be in America’s Got Talent and won the Golden Buzzer Award in the first round from Howie Mandel. He made pieces about his deceased sister, father, mother, and daughter. He was named the 15th season champion in September 2020, taking home a $ 1 million prize, a new Kia Stinger, and a chance to play in Luxor Las Vegas.
He has sung in 36 states of the US, New Zealand, Mexico, and Canada on his Dark Side tour to promote his published poetry and his album Deficiencies: A Tale from My Dark Side. He teaches at a childcare center at Brookside School, where he worked with his wife.
Leake is the founder and CEO of Called to Move, an organization that helps young people with poetry. He founded the organization in 2012 at Simpson University. He is also an academic advisor at San Joaquin Delta College. On October 9, 2020, it was announced that Leake had signed with United Talent Agency.
Brandon Leake became the first spoken poet to appear in ‘AGT’ and emerged as the winner. However, his journey was not easy. It started with him climbing the Stockton ghettos until he toured the country as a spoken poet.
Brandon Leake began his career as a poet in 2012 when Brandon founded Called to Move (CTM). It is the art team of his college, Simpson University, that inspires and encourages other artists to showcase their talent around the world. Finally, furthering his art, he released his debut album, ‘In My Thoughts,’ in 2016.
At the same time, Brandon Leake served as a high school teacher, an education consultant at San Joaquin Delta College, a poet workshop leader, and a keynote speaker. When he first auditioned for season 12 in 2017, Brandon did not reach the ‘AGT’ category. But instead of giving up, he went back to the drawing board, improved his art, and tried again after three years. During that time, Brandon released the expanded play ‘The Classics EP’ and the album ‘Deficiencies: A Tale from My Dark Side’ in 2018.
In addition, in September 2018, he started ‘The Dark Side Tour’ to promote his album, which is playing in 36 states of the US, New Zealand, Mexico, and Canada. In her 2020 ‘AGT’ research, she presented a touching play featuring a personal poem about her late sister, earning her a Golden Buzzer from judge Howie Mandel. This took him to the quarterfinals, where he made many more pieces about his father, mother, and daughter, before winning the competition.
Brandon Leake won the 15th season of ‘AGT’ in September 2020, taking home $ 1 million, a new Kia Stinger, and a chance to sing in Luxor Las Vegas. Ever since the program gave him a platform to share his talent with the world, he has become a national celebrity. Although her Las Vegas concert was delayed that year due to the Covid-19 epidemic, Brandon was able to appear at the event in November 2021. Brandon also received an agreement with the United Talent Agency to represent him on all fronts in October 2020.
That same month, he also announced that he would be a production partner and participant in the upcoming Team Harmony Foundation online series, ‘Hate: What Will You Do?’. Commenting on the series, Brandon said, “We are here to raise our voices against all forms of hatred, but more importantly, to show the world what love can look like.”
It is a 45-minute monthly series that discusses issues such as racial injustice, climate change, and women’s rights, among others. He reached another level in November 2020, when the House of Representatives welcomed him.
Brandon’s new poetry book, ‘Unraveling: Poems’ was released in March 2022, showcasing his unique ingenuity as well. Brandon continues to make many shows in spite of some of his obligations, building a foundation for his fans. The 30-year-old poet’s special talk, ‘Brandon Leake: A Family Affair,’ was broadcast on CW on June 19, 2022.
The one-hour special edition of Unity includes eight different spoken poems composed and presented by Leake. It also gave the audience an in-depth look at his life in Stockton, California, and the people who inspired his poetry, namely his family.
Brandon Leake also has a YouTube channel titled ‘Brandon Leake – CTM,’ where he posts poetry of spoken words, inspirational speaking content, and occasional vlogs. He also continues his career as the founder of CTM and has workshops to teach poetry, including the one he announced in May 2021, called ‘Dreamerz.’
Brandon Leake still lives in Stockton, California, with his beautiful wife, Anna Leake, whom he married in September. 2017. Together, they have two children, Aaliyah James Leake, born in February 2020, and Jakari Bennett Leake, a couple who adopted him in August 2021.
