Where Was Dark Winds Series Filmed?

The main photography launch of the series began in August 2021 and ended in November of that year. New Mexico
Many important ‘Dark Winds’ sequences are lensed in Santa Fe County, the third most populous region in New Mexico, and the city of Santa Fe as its regional seat. Specifically, a team of producers set up camp at Camel Rock Studios, the first Native American production studio.
Located at 17486 US-84 in Santa Fe, it was a casino of the 1950s era that was transformed into the expandable studio that we are today. In addition to the 12-acre standing sets, the studio also contains more than 100 hectares of undeveloped land with unique natural features in its backyard.

The actors and crew also filmed some scenes in Tesuque Pueblo and Española. The former is an excluded community with a census in Santa Fe County, and the latter is a town located mainly in Rio Arriba County but with central and eastern suburbs in Santa Fe County.
Cochiti
For recording purposes, a team of producers has traveled to Cochiti, a designated census site in Sandoval County. Located a few miles southwest of Santa Fe, it is considered a historic region as it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

An important part of the first season of ‘Dark Winds’ was also recorded in the southern state of San Juan County in Utah, which includes the Mexican Hat and the Monument Valley.
