Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 concludes in an amazing way, finally revealing the secret history of Eleven and the origins of Vecna. Marketed as the beginning of the end, Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 expands the franchise in unexpected ways. Stranger Things season 4 episodes are longer, in part showing the size of the stage the characters are currently playing. This time the actors are increasingly spread all over the world, with Joyce and Murray even heading to Russia in search of Hopper.
The A-plot, of course, is happening in Hawkins as Stranger Things faces a new kind of beast from Upside Down. Rather than being a mere creature, Vecna is a vicious creature that has the power to injure and kill others in a truly cruel way. He operates on Upside Down himself, and every time he kills he cries and opens another Gate. The Hawkins kids are trying to use these Gates against him in Stranger Things season 4 in volume 1, but in reality, their plans would not work; Vecna is simply too powerful. Only one person can deal with Vecna - Eleven, who works with Drs. Martin Brenner to regain her power.
Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 builds on the famous ending when Vecna returns the Hawkins kids, revealing his origins to Nancy. Many of the mysteries are wrapped up very well in the first seven episodes, and the last two will be released on July 1. Here’s everything you need to know to understand the drama Stranger Things season 4 of the 1st volume ending.
Nancy is Alive or Dead?
Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 saw Steve, Nancy, Robin, and Eddie enter Upside Down – where they quickly realized they had no chance to face Vecna and the worst creatures from Upps Down. Luckily, Dustin finds a place for another Gate and is able to communicate with them using tested methods that have been part of the franchise since season 1.
The group was spotted by one of the Demobat running away, however, allowing Vecna to find his place in the sense of the hive he was a part of. Being able to strike before they all escape, attacking Nancy’s mind with his tactics.
Vecna plays on fear and grief, tormenting his victims with thoughts of their past sins. In Nancy’s case, he is able to build on her regrets over the death of her friend Barb in Stranger Things season 1; Nancy was undoubtedly responsible for Barb’s death, dragged her to a party and dumped her to have sex with Steve, leaving her alone to become a victim of Demogorgon. The incident has a strange feeling because Vecna’s suspicion that Nancy had forgotten her friend is reminiscent of complaints made by the #Just4Barb organization that erupted after season 1.
Instead of forgetting Barb, however, it seems Nancy has buried her grief and self-loathing deep in her mind, allowing Vecna to play with it. As Nancy stays longer in the vision, the risk increases dramatically. She’s lucky that she’s not alone, though, and the kids have managed to pull Max out of the same love. I hope they can do the same for Nancy.
What Is The Vecna Identity & History?
Stranger Things is always playing in horror tropes, but Vecna is a new kind of horror – human, communicative, experimental, and humorous. When he gets into Nancy’s mind, he realizes that she is close to finding out his true identity. Believing that he has nothing to fear, as he thinks Nancy is now under his control, Vecna gives Nancy detailed information in which he reveals his background. This is in line with Eleven’s assessment of her brain in Drs. Brenner’s Nina Project, as she deals with her suppressed memories.
It appears Vecna is actually Henry Creel, the son of Victor Creel – Hawkins’ so-called serial killer, who was arrested at Pennhurst Mental Hospital after he was accused of killing his wife and daughter in 1959. Henry was a real murderer, a child. with all the power of Eleven but her conscience absent. He would have killed his father Victor if he had not stretched himself too much, he fainted. He rose under the care of Dr. Martin Brenner, becoming the first subject of Brenner’s examination.
Henry Creel Is Number One: Hawkins Lab Origin
Henry Creel became the number one, the epitome of all the future trials of Drs. Brenner. At first, Brenner wanted to control Number One, but when he saw that it was impossible he decided to find a way to limit his power. Once that was done, Brenner worked hard to reproduce Victor Creel, creating a number of empowered children – Eleven being one of them. These children grew up under the care of Drs. Brenner, and of them Henry Creel were one of the organizers.
But Henry tricked Eleven into releasing him and then killed the guards and other probation officers at Hawkins Lab. He would have done the same to the Eleven if she had not been stronger than him, he had defeated him. This fight was the real cause of the first “window” to go to Upside Down at Hawkins Lab, where Henry was shot at Upside Down. There, his body deteriorated terribly due to experience, he met the mind of Mind Flayer to become Vecna.
Stranger Things always adds a nod to the genre – the 4th season of Hellfire Club is an old-fashioned, comedy-based X-Men comedy. It has now adopted the traditional superhero trope because Vecna is actually a twisted mirror image of a hero. Moreover, Vecna’s backstory traces her to the origins of Eleven, which unites the two in an interesting way.
This retcon has a huge impact on the Stranger Things universe tie-ins, featuring some Hawkins studios with very different powersets. There is evidence of some degree of cooperation between the Duffer brothers and the groups working on other discourses; comic book author Jody Houser told Gizmodo that she was banned from using Number One, suggesting that the Duffers brothers knew they had some plans for the jobs. But the compilation should not go too far, as Stranger Things season 4 of volume 1 contradicts much of this content.
What Is Vecna’s Plan?
Vecna’s backstory is finally revealed, but his plan remains a mystery. The gates he opened could easily function as the head of an army sent by the mighty Mind-Flayer; the fact that he did not do so suggests that there is something worse than the mental attack.
It is possible that Vecna is actually trying to build enough gates to draw Upside Down and the real world together so that the size collides; there is a strange earthquake that shakes Upside Down, perhaps indications of side instability.
Why The Upside Down Is Stuck In 1983?
While we were at Upside Down, Nancy was shocked to see that this distorted copy of Hawkins was seized in 1983 – in particular, the same day Eleven opened the Gate for the first time. The possible opening of the Gate included another feature – the home of the Mind-Flayer, Demogorgons, and other creatures seen in Stranger Things – with a bad copy of Hawkins.
There is still some connection between Upside Down and the real world, however, which explains why Will may use lights to communicate between greatness in Stranger Things season 1.
What Is The Nina’s Project?
At the time, Eleven was participating in another study by Drs. Brenner – Nina Project – in an effort to regain her strength. Drs. Brenner believes there is a comparison between Eleven’s impotence and the experience of other stroke survivors, who lose their skills because their brains do not connect in the same way.
According to Brenner, the key to restoring Eleven is to force her to re-experience the events that led to her unleashing of her greatest power – the Hawkins Lab massacre and her war with Vecna. Eleven’s mind has been suppressing these memories for years, but Brenner’s sophisticated tank of anesthesia forces him to deal with them in the end. If Brenner’s theory is right, Eleven has just regained her strength – although she was not shown using it in Stranger Things season 4, episode 7.
Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7 forms the 3rd season episode of post-credits, featuring the Russians capturing Demogorgon while in Hawkins and feeding the prisoners to it. Luckily, Hopper was able to figure out how to keep Demogorgon long enough to get his miracle, Joyce and Murray managed to get him out of the temporary arena where he was fighting a creature. Now the group must escape from Kamchatka prison and find their way back to the United States.
