Peacock’s ‘Angelyne’ historical drama series follows the life and fame of Angelyne, a well-known artist, actress, model, and media person. Angelyne Season 1 Synopsis
‘Angelyne’ begins with Jeff Glaser trying to figure out who Angelyne really is, the person who appeared miraculously on several Los Angeles boards. In the late 1970s, Angelyne meets Cory Hunt and joins his band called Baby Blue. She uses her photos to enhance their music and eventually becomes the face of the group. Cory proposes marriage to her after giving her a car. Angelyne keeps the car but orders Cory. In the meantime, she is appearing on billboards, “advertising.” She meets Harold Wallach, a printer and businessman, who starts putting up posters featuring Angelyne after becoming a business partner.
Gradually, the people of LA came across several boards containing Angelyne. Her popularity is growing regardless of national boundaries as international news reporters arrive in LA to cover the “Angelyne phenomenon.” Her working relationship with Harold is upsetting his latest daughter Wendy as her father is always dating celebrities. Wendy starred in a television drama but the same is canceled after the first season, furthering her grief. Danny Katz, Angelyne’s ex-husband, finds out about the change in his ex-wife while he was in Morocco. Arriving in LA he meets Angelyne who will leave some of her belongings and chase her away.
Max Allen, a budding filmmaker, decides to make a documentary about Angelyne’s life. When Max touches her, she agrees but insists that the making of the documentary is possible only according to her instructions. Angelyne makes Max pay for everyone involved in document production but fails to get usable photos. Tired and angry, he is determined to do the same on his own terms. They end up going into arbitration to resolve the dispute. During the trial, Max reveals who Angelyne is.
Angelyne Season 1 Ending, Explained: What Happened At The End of the Season?
As Angelyne continues to harass Max about the production of his documentary, he begins the journey to collect any available information about the previous life of the mysterious icon. He finds out that Angelyne is actually Rachel Goldman and was born in Poland by two Holocaust survivors. The Jewish family, which included Rachel’s father, mother, and her younger sister, moved to California. After settling in California, Rachel fell in love with Danny. Rachel’s father was extremely supportive of his daughters and made life miserable for them, especially by remarrying when his sister’s mother died. She eventually married Danny but their life together lasted a year.
The whereabouts of Angelyne / Rachel during the period between her separation from Danny and her encounter with Cory are unknown to Max. The arbitration ends with Max’s true identity and the decision that he may be able to complete his documentary in collaboration with Angelyne. However, to make it clear that she does not want to meet the filmmaker again, leaving Max with important information about her past. The documents he has, including pictures of Rachel, birth certificate, etc., are in an instant.
So Max seeks the help of his private investigator to hand over the documents to Jeff Glaser. Although Max denies any information about Jeff’s source, it is clear he is directing a PI to a reporter. Max has sacrificed for years to make his documentary and does not want his hard work to be in vain. However, an argument with Angelyne makes it difficult for her to disclose her identity on her own, especially considering the age at which another argument could take his life. Therefore, Max gives Jeff documents about his detective in secret, so it is not traced back to him.
When Jeff publishes a feature, which reveals Angelyne’s identity, her reputation rises again. She receives calls after calls from lovers, who reassure her of their compassion and love for her. Although she initially views the publication of this feature as a beating, her rising popularity changes her mind. She decides against the public rejection of this feature so as not to diminish the sensitivity she receives. Even when the feature of the feature shows the victory of Jeff and Max, Angelyne not only loses nothing but gains more praise. By not accepting you publicly or rejecting the same, you also wish to keep the mystery around him.
Moreover, Angelyne believes that she and Rachel Goldman are two different people. Although her future did not cease to bother her, Angelyne’s ability to accept that she was an astronaut, who came to Earth as Angelyne. She does not believe that she had an earthly history before she reached the planet Earth. Dreams of being an alien, her earthly life is limited to her identity as Angelyne, takes her real place in her mind.
