‘The Orville New Horizons’ raises the ante with sensible social analysis while taking viewers to the farthest corners of the universe. The story is set 400 years from now, as it follows USS Orville astronauts in their exploration of new life. As the mysteries of the universe unfold before the eyes of space workers, their struggle among humans reaches its climax.
After its release, the series gained fame for its production value and perfect storytelling ingenuity. Most of the story takes place in space (studio space) and on terrible planets. However, you should ask yourself where the third season of The Orville New Horizons was recorded.
Where Was The Orville Series Filmed?
‘The Orville New Horizons’ was filmed in and around the US, especially in California. Production for the third season began in October 2019 and ended in March 2020 due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic. About half of the season ended by this time.
In December 2020, the group returned there, but production was resumed in January 2021 following another epidemic. However, resolutely, they returned to dry in February 2021, ending production in August of that year.
Due to the nature of the series, much effort has gone into production in the background. Initially, the show’s producers looked at locations in New Mexico and Colorado. However, after being blessed with the California Film & Television Tax Credit Program, a team of filmmakers approached California and found suitable and unique locations in the province.
As the national government promotes more filming benefits outside of the Hollywood Studio Zone, actors and staff are also moving out to the southern part of the country. Now, know about The Orville New Horizons filming locations.
Los Angeles County
Most of The Orville New Horizons season was recorded at a controlled studio set up in Los Angeles County, the seat of a 30-mile area where most of the studios in the state are located. Actors and staff rallied most of Fox Studio Lot, a large film production facility located at 10201 Pico Boulevard, in the Century City area of LA.

The team is able to put together an amazing two-story set (which is very rare in the sound stage), where many of the ship’s internal scenes were recorded. The set has undergone major upgrades to capture Se Mac Macarlarlane’s excellent vision, and embrace production.
It took about $ 5 million to redesign the entire set. The lighting system itself costs a fortune, which shows in the series. The crew used a lighting system to mimic the shape of a ship, highlighting the characters by giving them schemes of different colors in different locations.
In addition to the main audio stage, an additional conversion set is used to capture external worlds. Due to the VFX-focused production environment, the team relied on both green screens and blue screens to create world locations.

Other venues include Blue Cloud Movie Ranch, a popular movie farm located at 20019 Blue Cloud Road just outside Santa Clarita in Los Angeles County. From ‘Iron Man’ to ‘American Sniper,’ dozens of blockbusters have visited the farm in the past.

Another historic site visited by the team is the Golden Oak Ranch, or Disney Ranch, a large 890-hectare movie theater located at 19802 Placerita Canyon Road in the Newhall area of Los Angeles County. From ‘Back to the Future’ to ‘Pearl Harbor,’ the farm is featured in the iconic products. However, you will not be able to see these locations after post-production, as they have been converted into unknown worlds. “The Orville New Horizons.”
Ventura County
In their extended third season of The Orville New Horizons recording program, the cast and crew set out for Ventura County in Southern California. The third season scenes were filmed in Piru, a small unincorporated township near the Santa Clarita River, in the Santa Clarita Valley. The site was originally owned by the Tataviam Indians, and made by Christians under the San Fernando Mission.

Then, the unprofitable Christian publisher David C. Cook found himself there in 1887, and with the hope of establishing a “second garden of Eden,” he built the township. Over the years, Piru has become a popular recording studio, as shown in movies such as ‘Happy, Texas,’ and ‘Race to Witch Mountain.’
Actors and crew also filmed a few scenes in the California suburbs. Some scenes were filmed in southern Kern County, California. While in the area, actors and staff were seen filming scenes at Red Rock Canyon State Park, discovering unusual landscapes.
